I cannot seem to dial in the FOV and Viewport offsets well enough to prevent eyestrain. I have the horizontal offet set to my ipd. I seem to have to adjust the vertical offset a few notches as well (I'm still trying to figure the right settings for vertical offset). I currently have the FOV at 80.

It seems that if I focus on an object and dial it in until it's comfortable then I still have eyestrain on everything else.

What am I doing wrong here? And do we need adjust everything for each video?

Hi Frito,
thank you for congratulation.

Hi nathanwillis,
We provide VrPlayer preset file with the video (in a zip pack) for our last videos (on indiegogo). If you take videos on our website, our first videos don't have preset files but you can check Vr player setting below videos :

Tips when you adjust vertical and horizontal offset :
With Oculus rift : look quickly and alternately with the right eye and left eye and try to superimpose the two images.

The acceleration of the movement of things in the side of view (the stretching effect, or whatever you would call it) is a bit weird and off putting. Something should be done to correct that.

This doesn't support tilting the head, does it?

The two sample videos I looked didn't have a problem with tilting your head. Not that I expected there to be any since the videos were played via VRPlayer. The Panocam3D is just a recorder, so any tilting issues would be a problem in whatever player you used.

The below link will take you to where you can buy a 360 degree lens for any camera. it uses a conical mirror. The software that comes with it outputs the image from one camera to a 360 degree video/image that can be viewed by the rift. Good to see there are a few versions of this tech already existes for live action VR 🙂

Horizontal offset needs to be set to match the lense separation of the Oculus rift = 64 mm, not to your IPD. Same idea for the vertical offset, which is = 0. Anything else will cause warping.
