I wonder when all these acquisitions will work together to fully bring us the amazing input devices we've been dreaming about for the last 4 years 8-)

From their blog, among dozens of single talents, they acquired:

Carbon Design for building great feeling, great looking consumer products like the Xbox 360 controller

13th lab for efficient and accurate real-time 3D reconstruction framework

Nimble VR for high-quality, low-latency skeletal hand tracking

Surreal Vision for real-time 3D scene reconstruction

and now Pebble for depth sensing technology and computer vision

Oculus was already a dream team, but it gets better every day.

Thanks for listing all the acquisitions @crespo80 - I was going to ask a friend to list them out for me as I knew there had been a few announced of late.

I was told by a specialist in his field that for every new employee added to a "new" company an addition of 4-months to the deliverable milestone has to be added - for an executive/board position 9-months. The addition of a satellite operation to a 'new' corporation the impact can be considerable and even deviate the milestone path.

I just wonder how much of an impact to the deliverable these acquisition will have - beyond the greater good of the enhanced tech they bring. We saw the mission creep and milestone change towards the current CV1 from DK2 - just think what we will see in two years!

They must really be thinking ahead, what with "touch" not even being bundled with the launch that is "supposed" to happen in early 2016, and here they are buying companies that have nothing to do with the tech in "touch" but rather something that seems to be beyond it, that we won't see for at least 2 years. They never give any details about what they have in mind with these acquisitions other than having a "dream team" of engineers, seems to me like this is just put out there to please shareholders "look we are actively using your money"

Unfortunately to the end user/gamer this simply translates to more shallow promises and more insanely frustrating wait.

Got a dk2? Fuck off!

Perhaps coined as

An Even Dreamyer Team

or

The Dreamiest Dream Team of All

or

To Dream Infinity and Beyond?

Interesting observation @danknugz.
I remember that BlackBerry gathered their own "dream-team" towards building the next generation of smart-phone systems - asking their audience to support them and wait for big development to be completed. Time passed and then along came the new iPhone, and the rest is history (no one waited!)

The Dreamiest Dream Team of All

What's impressive here is the ability to track other objects...

I can see a line of VR peripherals that are dumb null objects... just plastic or rubber shapes of the objects needed...

I also have thought of that tim74uk. It wouldn't even have to be a "peripheral" per se but just objects you have laying around that could be scanned and then realized in VR for their physical boundaries and shape. For example you could scan in a desk and use part of it as a VR dashboard in a driving game, so when you reach out and "touch" the dash in game, it would be mapped to the physical location of the desk, or the raised sides of an armchair acting like an open window so you could lean out to shoot or hang your arm out the window as you drive.

From what I understand, lighthouse/VIve is potentially capable of something like that.
