I'm the same, I can't imagine the VR would be all that great given the video card that's in the PS4. I've read that about equivalent to the Radeon HD 7870, that's about half the power of the GTX 970. I can only guess that they are going to render at much lower resolution and scale up like the Xbox One does for a lot of its games.

Which is going to up the production cost quite a bit. Everyone is expecting Sony to subsidise the cost of the PSVR a little, but if the quality is in the same ballpark (that word again!) as Rift, Rift is going to start looking seriously overpriced.

The external unit of PSVR doesn't do any graphics processing except act as a passthrough and maybe undistort the image so it shows correctly on the TV. It will not give the PS4 any kind of performance boost.

As for comfort, some people have been saying PSVR being the most comfortable of all the VR headsets because it puts the pressure on your forehead and not in your face.

edit: also I don't get why people think the PS4 isn't powerful enough for VR, I mean we have VR on fucking smartphones, so why wouldn't the PS4 be able to do it? Of course it won't be as pretty as on the pc though.

This is equal to $495 us, 1.41 times more expensive than the PS4 itself (based on a quick price check on walmart website).
It's only 17.3% less than the CV1.

but this is the final price I can buy in a shop, CV1 is without taxces and shipping.
To me CV1 costs 742 € while PSVR would cost about 450 €, it makes a lot of a difference.

No this isn't the final price. It's a rumor. Much like the rumor the CV1 was going to be about $350.. Look how that turned out hey..

Wish my smartphone could fuck 😞

There is a big difference between VR on a phone and VR running a 'AAA' title. Hence why the specs needed to run the Rift are so high.

True - we're all just speculating at the moment. Without definite pricing and specs, all this chatter is pretty meaningless, albeit a good way of keeping me entertained when I'm bored stiff at work 😄

Whatever the final spec of PSVR, I'd be very surprised if it's much more than £350 - £400.

I guess that's just it, won't be as pretty. I haven't seen any of the Gear VR stuff, so I'm definitely uninformed on that subject. I'm just going with the overall impression I get from reading these forums and the fact that everybody is worried that their machines won't be fast enough for proper VR. If that's not a necessity, why would Oculus not lower their standards to a more affordable hardware level? Obviously PSVR has lesser requirements so the solution must equate to something less than what Oculus will offer, if not something is wrong here. Again, I'm really not against PSVR, if something is wrong, I hope they can demonstrate it so we can all benefit from it.

You also mentioned that some people have been saying that PSVR is the most comfortable of all VR headsets. Are you talking just ergonomics or the actual experience (nausea, etc...)?

no one knows this.
THey don't have released any information about it.

I was just talking about ergonomics, which from what I've been gathering goes like PSVR > Rift > Vive. I haven't tried any of the VR headsets myself yet so take that with a grain of salt.

I think oculus decided on the 970 as the target spec because it's probably the most common card of the new generation and also one of the best bang for the buck cards you can get.

How PSVR can get a high enough framerate with titles like Driveclub? Probably just the same way you can get insanely high framerates in some PC games, by just tuning the graphic settings down. Things like decreasing shadow details and draw distance can immensely increase the framerate.

If it's close to that price they'll sell 10 million!

If it's half decent, they'll sell a lot more than that. If it does come in at this pricepoint, it'll make the Rift look seriously overpriced, unless there's a huge difference in quality.

This is Sony. They know how to sell stuff (hardware) at a loss and still make a profit (software).

There are only 36 million units of PS4 sold worldwide. You really think that every 3rd owner of a PS4 will buy a still pricy VR headset? I guess you've been too much in VR forums so you lost your objectivity. Most people still don't know VR or even if they do they don't care. If they sell a few millions (<5) that would already be great.
