I have a 

Samsung 34-Inch SJ55W Ultrawide Gaming Monitor (LS34J550WQNXZA) – 75Hz Refresh, WQHD Computer Monitor, 3440 x 1440p Resolution, 4ms Response, FreeSync, Split Screen, HDMI, Black

It has a Display port in the back of the monitor. My question is if I were to plug the Rift S Display port into the monitor, could I use it or does it absolutely need to be plugged into the DP of a GPU

Needs to be plugged into your gpu DP.

i9 13900K water cooled, RTX4090, Z790 MB w/wifi6e, 32Gb 6400 ram, 2x2TB SSD, 1000W PSU, Win 11, QPro, Q3, w/Link and Air Link, Vive Pro1 with 2x2.0 base stations, Etsy lens mod and Index Controllers
