Found this today in a drawer and thought it might help put the price of certain tech items in perspective. Do you think my Rain Check is still valid? It's from '94. Update: Price is $4791 in today's $! Update2: The CV1+Comp($1500) would have cost $927 in '94
I remember paying something like £140 for a DVD decoder card back in 1999 just to play DVDs in the PC.. probably only used it twice. That's more of an indication of my lack of sense than it is the value of a CV1 !

I bought my first home computer in early 1984 and paid all up about $1600 cash Aussie which was a huge sum for a young buck back then ! But I got the most awesome computer which was the most wondrous thing I had ever seen or owned, I loved music and sound and the SID chip was phenomenal for its time. I bought a C64 with 1541 disk drive and the most awesome Commodore 1702 13 inch color monitor - my trusty ol' 64 lasted me many years before the Amiga upgrade !
Had such fun playing games like Pitstop II, Ghostbusters, Davids Midnight Magic Pinball and One on One Dr J vs Larry Bird - a fantastic basketball game. But my two all-tme fave games were Impossible Mission by Epyx and Raid on Bungeling Bay by Broderbund ... Ah those were the days ! 😄

I had an mpeg decoder card. It used chromakey with a pass through cable from graphics card to mpeg card, then mpeg card to monitor. The cool thing was anything on screen set to a specific dark green colour would show up as the video source, I once set visual studio to that colour and coded with a movie as my editor window background. 🙂 (Not good for productivity)
