I've seen the rumors regarding the switch to the concept currently known as "Puffin" rather than the assumed Quest 4 and Quest 4S.
1st thought: Thank you! LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea. This is a pivot that still meets the seemingly endless pursuit of convergence of VR headsets getting smaller and AR glasses packing in more powerful electronics.
I do have a wishlist for this that I want to see:
1. Please don't abandon MR. Would love to see passthrough capabilities remain on Meta platforms and potentially expanded to natively support an MR spatial window for, say maybe, a cockpit cutout.
2. Please please please don't go to a lower FOV than the Quest 3. I don't want to feel like I'm looking through binoculars. I know I've been particularly vocal about FOV in other posts.
3. Absolutely begging here! If the puck will be tethered to the headset as rumored, please for the love of all that is VR, please include I/O to the puck to integrate PCVR natively. Get me a nice DisplayPort receptical and USB3 hub and let me run wild in PCVR. I beg!!!
In all seriousness, I don't think I've ever been so excited for the potential of a true VR centered headset since the announcement of the Orion project. Honestly between my 3 requests, even just getting 1 and 3 would be amazing, but getting 1, 2, and 3 would be out-of-this-world insanity!
Please Meta, make it happen. Get me back into sim racing in MR.
