Quest 3 Depth Perception

Sofian75

I am one of the people who noticed a lack of depth in the image produced by the Quest 3, compared to pretty much of the hmd I ve owned in the past.

Is it caused by the low stereo overlap of the lenses or could it be a software issue, something being wrong with the way the stereoscopic images are rendered for both eyes?

Any solution? Maybe a tool that would let us adjust the stereo offset?

@Sofian75  Like refresh rates, some seem to be sensitive to binocular overlap.  I’ve used every oculus/meta headset since rift cv1 and this has never been a problem for me.  Because both the Q3 and QPro have canted screens (in order to max FOV) the binocular overlap is a little higher.  All I can suggest is you spend a little more time adjusting IPD and facial placement ( including eye distance).  Also, relax your eyes and avoid googling them around the outer part of the screens.

If you’re unable to get a useable result then maybe you’ll need to try another headset (maybe a Q3’s?).

I guess you could try contacting meta support and they may send a you a refurbished replacement.  I doubt that will work better, but who knows?

Sorry I can’t be of more help mate.  Good luck and Cheers.
