In 2012, I was on the first Oculus and excited for gaming's future.
Then Facebook bought them out. Then they bought out all competition. Then they stopped making games.
If I was twelve, I'd love the reskinned lollypop crush game of the month. I'm not 12, so My choices become first person this and first person that, great! I frigging hate first person. Know why you can't have first person mortal combat? Because you can't do what they do in game! But sure, we all want to actually BE the characters, right?
I mean, you know better than I what I want from a game, right? I like sports games, I like adventure games, I like horror games, know what I never said, gee, I sure wish this was first person. What if you could load up Fifa (or FC24) and you were enveloped within the stadium with the pitch before you and the crowd going crazy? What if you were inside the dungeon, just yourself and Lara, with all abilities at your fingertips, instead of the game being limited because you, yourself, can't do what her character does.
What if META didn't buy up all game studios and instruct them to stop inovating?
The Meta Quest three is a powerful new headset. I don't care. There is no reason to care. Shall I buy the new headset so the games I've owned for two years looks that much better? REALLY?
Should I own a Quest 3 or Quest Pro because I love to work in VR? Do I long to work? Do I? Are you sure about that? How about a powerful new headset that is inovatively LIGHT? Do you think people want a lighter headset for excercise games, of course they do. Did they get that with the new headset? I don't think so.
Demand is lighter than expected for the Quest 3, and deservedly so! Maybe VR should die so it can be reborn under competant hands.
