Quest 3s Not Charging

AngrySpider330

Out of the box, I liked the look of the Quest 3s. I bought the original Quest on preorder, bought the Quest 2 on preorder, and now I have the 3s. However, it's not charging, and I mean at all. It doesn't acknowledge that there's even a cable plugged in, because I plugged in the (official, $80) Quest Link cable. Using the charger from the box doesn't charge it either. I've attempted multiple power outlets and various methods, none of which are working. How should I go about fixing this issue?

Hey there AngrySpider,

I’m sorry to hear that your Quest 3s isn’t charging. I’d be a little teary-eyed myself.

You’ve already tried using different cables and outlets, which is a great first step. Take a quick look at the USB-C port on your Quest 3s for any dust or debris. A gentle clean might do the trick. Check over the cable and the charger’s prong for any signs of bending or scratching.

Since you’ve checked multiple outlets, try using a charger from a lamp or another device if you have one. Who knows.

Perform a reset on your Meta Quest 3 and check if there are any software updates available.

If nothing works, definitely reach out to Meta’s support team. Keep a record of all the troubleshooting steps you’ve taken. Just don’t attempt to open up the quest yourself. Don’t wanna risk anything.

Hopefully you’ll be back in VR soon!

Cheers!

Hey AngrySpider,

Last thing, I did find this hard rebooting directions via Meta which is different from a factory reset just in case you haven’t tried. Might help with your charging issue. I’ll copy and paste that below:

https://www.meta.com/help/quest/

  • Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.)
  • Hard Reboot the headset
    • Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
    • If the boot-up sound is not heard:
    • Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.
