Question About Graphics Card

Hello Oculus community!

I just ordered my DK2, but am a bit concerned my graphics card will not be able to handle the rift. Here are the specs. Do I need to upgrade my graphics card, or will my experience be decent? Please let me know, thanks!

You can't use the integrated Intel graphics with the DK2. It's not anywhere close to powerful enough. You'll want a AMD 290 (or higher) or a Nvidia GTX970 (or higher).

What CPU do you have?

Yeah thats what I thought 😞 Here is my CPU spec: http://tinypic.com/r/2dtao05/8

You think it'll be at least a pleasurable experience? If it's too bad i'll probably upgrade

CPU looks good, but you will need a dedicated GPU (Nvidia or AMD).
AMD Ryzen 7 1800X | MSI X370 Titanium | G.Skill 16GB DDR4 3200 | EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 | Corsair Hydro H110i Gigabyte RX Vega 64 x2 | Samsung 960 Evo M.2 500GB | Seagate FireCuda SSHD 2TB | Phanteks ENTHOO EVOLV

Obviously I meant to say you CAN'T use the integrated card, but you seem to have figured that out.

Your CPU is fine.

You can also edit your post so it makes more sense.

You can have quite a lot of possibilities if you buy GTX770.
GTX760 could be an "emergency exit" if there's no other option.
GTX780/GTX970/GTX980 would be recommended.

edit: I see you're able to upgrade easily, so you can skip this part, although I'll leave it, maybe some other person has a similar situation
If you cannot afford any of it, then I would rather sell 8GB from 16GB of RAM you have and/or even downgrade your CPU.
You can buy an used 2500K and overclock it, and you'll get a healthy boost for your "GPU upgrade fund".
Of course, it's a "last resort" option. But it's better than resigning from DK2 if you really want one.
Personally I would not do this, not for DK2, not yet. CV1 might be worth it.
But if you have a game that perfectly fits with your favorite genre and you don't even play in stereoscopic 3D yet, then go for DK2, even at the cost of downgrading RAM/CPU.
Not an Oculus hater, but not a fan anymore. Still lots of respect for the team-Carmack, Abrash. Oculus is driven by big corporation principles now. That brings painful effects already, more to come in the future. This is not the Oculus I once cheered for.

What do you think of this graphics card? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150678

I would not recommend selling off or downgrading anything in your PC. You will need all the power you can get.

A 280X is a decent card, and I use one of those myself (on a non-VR rig). For many demos it will likely suffice, but some of the more intensive games (like Elite) may need settings turned down. However, it should be enough to get your feet wet, and you can probably sell it and upgrade later if you find you need more power.

I actually couldn't. I was accessing the forum on my phone and the edit screen kept coming up blank. Works fine on my laptop though.
