Rift II?

Hello,

I'm sure the next generation of the rift is in the works. Has anyone
heard anything in terms of what improvements they are working on and
what we might hope to expect in terms of FOV and resolution? If FOV is 110 now, what will the next model probably be?

Any other improvements?

Hopefully, the biggest improvement, aside from image quality, will be their order / shipping procedures.  LOL.
CV1: Ordered 6th Jan 2016 - Est Delivery Some time in May... DK2: Ordered: 8th of Aug 2014 - Delivered: 14 Oct 2014

Fix the god rays, improved FOV and higher resolution.

If I step back a little I think the improvements in terms of resolution and optics are more for the cheaper competition. Like "better tracking" for example, how many will spend money for that kind of upgrade? Oculus will want to cash in for reals if they release something else.

What HTC and Oculus will be focusing on for their "#2" I believe is even lighter headsets, head cameras, eye tracking, and possibly something about partnering with ultramobile and GPU manufacturers to achieve wireless PC VR using a backpack computer. 🙂

If they want to make money on something to release in 2016 Q4 or 2017 it'll be something like XBox One VR or more gear and accessories.

I would buy another unit today if they offered a 140 or 150 FOV version.

It's obvious that a lot of people have been severely disappointed with the FOV that cv1 has if they (as in, not just this thread but countless others) are already aski about cv2 and if the FOV will be fixed.

The FOV is the main reason outside of not having touch, that I have used the cv1 at most maybe 2 hours since getting it 2 weeks ago. Coming from a dk2 was particularly harsh because one could argue that (optics and SDE aside), the dk2 actually does a better job of immersion than cv1.
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. Q: What is the most annoying thing on forums?

- Reduce or remove God Rays entirely
- 2K resolution in each eye
- Improved FOV
- Lighter headset & improved ergonomics
- Some form of eye tracking (?)
- Includes Touch 2.0 controllers
- Front facing camera(s)

Somethings that I would like to see in the CV2

Are you kidding?  I still have my DK2, if you do, hook it up after playing CV1 and tell me again how its more immersive...  Insane talk

i would highly highly recommend the rift 2 have a better fov while somehow having AT LEAST 4k resoluton overall if not per eye . at least overall... that may require more power but........with advances like the nvidia 10 series cards being able to soon do single pass 3d renders it may be possible down the road.

and they need to do something with the lens type. the god rays are a issue but not as huge of an issue as i first saw. (the biggest problem for me was just in henry so far.....WHY they chose such a bright background for that "movie" is beyond me)

but i think the future is bright. i like the cv1 and i am sure vr will only get better in time!
