I'm getting the same issue that made me roll back from the test channel. If I have HDR enabled then when I start the Oculus service (I keep it disabled when not in use) my main screen goes black and no way of getting it back.
Following some advice here if I have HDR off, then start Oculus, go into display settings and change extend desktop to only display 2 (oculus is display 1) then turn on HDR it works fine but this doesn't survive a reboot.
I did leave feedback before general release, is it worth doing it again?
Also can I now log a support ticket for this? Originally I was told I couldn't as it was still in test.

Is there a decent guide for using Dash? I have read the dev blog, but it didn't seem to go into much detail - seemed more about saying what is there and not necessarily how to use it - unless I missed something.

I've had no issues thus far, luckily, but I feel I am using only a very small percentage of it's capability.

So far these are all the features:

Basics

  • Press the Oculus button on your right Touch controller to bring up and dismiss Dash.
  • Point with your index finger to bring up a laser pointer and use A, X or index triggers on your Touch controllers to interact with buttons and panels. You can also physically reach out and touch the belt to interact with it using hand gestures.
  • Use the grip button while pointing at Dash elements to grab and reposition them. You can reposition the Dash belt to be closer to you by default, if preferred.

Using Oculus Desktop

  • In an Oculus Desktop panel, you can use the grip button to grab and "tear out" individual windows from a desktop monitor and place them anywhere in your virtual space.
  • Oculus Desktop panels have a row of buttons in the lower right-hand corner that give you access to extra panel functionality:
    • The "Pin to Experience" icon allows you to pin the panel so that it remains up and visible even when you dismiss Dash.
    • The "Keyboard" icon brings up a virtual keyboard that allows you to send text input to the panel.
    • The "Minimise" icon hides the panel.

Hey guys, how do you get Oculus Desktop? I have no such icon.  I've tried exiting and re-entering the beta, leaving the beta, going back to the old Home..

Any ideas?

I've got nothing but a black screen. And I'm not the only one. I have a 388.31 nVidia driver, so this is not the new 390. Oculus should investigate this issue, because I'm not the only one who reporting this.

What version of Windows are you using? (I think they've said that you need Windows 10 for Oculus Desktop.) The button should be beside the Store button, where you have a blank black space.

Edit: Yup, Oculus Desktop requires Windows 10.

DK2, CV1, Go, Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3.

K so I just got updated to 1.22 apparantly, nothing major seems changed though, and all still works fine luckely.. If I were to turn on dash under the beta tab though, and it doesn't work, could I then just as easily switch it off again without it having caused any problems?

It is actually crashing my PC, and the screen looks like this if I start Oculus app, even without putting the Rift on.s3x55hbhq62s.jpg

@Jusztin did you try with latest Nvidia drivers at least for testing purpose? As far as I know latest are recommended as Nvidia (and AMD) and Oculus work together to implement new features of Dash in those drivers so very recent ones are mandatory...

You'll need Windows 10 to access all the features.
