I was hoping a joke...but apparently they are serious. Dawg, there is no way I could even think of playing Rockband in VR. Standing up, wild head motions, strobe lights, tryna rock out. People are going to be falling out with epileptic seizures. Absolute FAIL on their part!!

Sidenote: Did you get a glimpse of those graphics???? UGH....Guitar Hero Live set the bar as far as LIVE graphics, and they don't even come close. Worst game they could have revealed for the launch of the Oculus!! I was disappointed, I stay cheering Oculus on, but they let me down with that one.

I'm sure they trialed before allowing development to be made. I'm sure there is some sort of calibration that has to go on before playing a game where limits exist. Like I think they said or I saw someone where that if the player deviates outside a certain boundary they get alerted either haptic, vibration, sound, color, etc.

The best would be to bring back the Crisis Zone arcade gun for home use!!! I'm not sure if you guys were into arcades like I was..

It was that but when it was released the first year it was loud and the feel was epic. I'm not sure why that stuff died out.

Antdx they get alerted? This breaks immersion, big nono to do that. Oculus keeps trying to play both sides of the aisle. First palmy slams the vive talking about cable management in a tweet. That it's safer for vr right now maybe to have seated experiences so that kids don't get hurt and Lawyers don't get richer (palmy already making facebook and zenimax attorneys get too much money) so I actually support some of palmy logic in that regard. Professional guitar players also commented at reddit they also agreed with palmer. Having an hmd on blinding you with cords under your feet was not good, but some vive fanbois said you learn to step over cables, going against what palmy said and his logic and warnings. But now, frak, that dunce is countering his own previous advice!! Yay, guitar, vr, cables. Standing walking experiences! Lol! I want what palmy is smoking to constantly keep contradicting himself and his own logic and points! Lol! Anyways wasn't the guitar hero people brought on board very v early with oculus, McCauley a Co founder, and even he publicly saying the lighthouse solution was better and was gonna try to copy valve? Geez louise! With palmy "consistency is hard"

Hi to *

I also want to contribute to this thread to express my disappointment.

Without haven’t seen a single second of the Rock Band VR footage I cannot believe
that this is worth such an announcement Palmer did on Twitter some days ago.

I was expecting something huge for instance hardware related: Bigger field of view, full body tracking, wireless operation something like that.
And now the only thing Oculus has to show shortly before delivery of the next big thing after sliced bread is such a silly Guitar Hero clone?

This remembers me of my disappointment when they came out with the simple Xbox controller. I really though they must be joking in the first moment.

I really had high hopes that virtual reality finally has reached critical mass with the arrival of Oculus but now I have big doubts that the VR goggles are more than just a guitar controller accessory.

I have ten years of experience using VR in an industrial environment with powerwalls, caves etc.
I underwent the first wave of consumer HMDs in the early nineties of the last century with the i-glasses, VFX1, VFX3D and so on.
I experienced the age of consumer shutter glasses.

And I had high hopes in Oculus to finally reach the turnaround in consumer VR technology.
But after this yesterdays show I wouldn’t bet a cent whether Oculus will still be existing end of 2016.

I hope I’m wrong.

Rockband VR - "With the Rockband franchise, we bored you on screen - NOW FEEL BOREDOM AS IF YOU'RE ACTUALLY THERE!"

Oh Oculus, you really have trailed all expectations on this one. At least it makes that earlier "what are they announcing" speculation thread an absolute hoot to read. Even the worst suggestions were orders of magnitude more interesting. Shouldn't have made it an "announcement" with speculation and excitement for the Rift itself so high. Setting the bar like that, there was no way it wouldn't disappoint!

To be fair it's also quite unique as a use-case, a pretty great use case for VR actually, which is to its credit. But I'm not sure why this needed hyping by way of an "announcement", aren't there tons of games which are coming to light as of late? Why give this one special attention?

Should probably keep "announcements" to the important stuff from now on.

It just goes to show how we are all different. I too was totally under whelmed however.............

I sent this info to a mate this morning, he is still on the fence on VR after playing mine. he thinks its cool and all, and will probably get one, but is more interested in experiences than gaming.

(he has a 3 screen racing rig and a proper flight set up and insists of image quality over everything else which is maybe why less interested in gaming in vr)

but he is really really interested in this announcement... so there you go, not all bad for all people BUT

his 1 comment was, was there any mention of *rocksmith* at all?

he would be WAY more interested in actually playing his real guitar and his real drums rather than pretend plastic carp.

I imagine even if it was not mentioned, it is only a matter of time before rocksmith (or equivalent) VR comes out
(the thing with rock smith as you are actually learning to play a real instrument over playing with toys in rockband)
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

You want to feel like a rockstar? Pick up a guitar and learn how to play.

This was a bad announcement. Palmer shouldn't do this anymore. BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!! Minecraft VR... woho... BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!! Rockband VR... woho... BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!! Toilet Simulator........
Excuse my bad english. I speak to you through the google translator. 😛

Great idea, now everyone has to buy yet ANOTHER peripheral for a VR experience?

Palmer on stage was pretty cringeworthy, but then again, so was the entire awards show. The only interesting part where I didnt feel like I was being treated like I was 12 years old and being "convinced" how "awesome" Battlefront is with a "hot girl" interviewer "totally agreeing" with the "opinions" of the "game journalists" was seeing Mark Hammil drunk and high on stage.

Pathetic.
hush little babeh dont say a word and nevermind that noise u herrd
