It is strange they didn't show the notes in the trailer though, the way that gets presented in VR is going to be important.
Lights show upcoming notes, like this:

I think that is just a particle effect for when you play a note. They seem to be moving out and away from the fret board.

I'm mostly surprised that the Rockband devs think Rift is a better platform than PSVR where most of their users will naturally go.

Oculus funded and produced the game, so it's not surprising it's not on PSVR. 🙂

I don't like any of those music games and this announcement has no interest for me, but the Rockband series has pulled in over $1 billion in sales. It's a pretty damn popular game. A music game where you are on a stage in front of an audience seems appropriate for VR.

If the Rock Band visuals were at all realistic it might actually be interesting for awhile to feel like you're on stage in front of a huge crowd of people playing your favorite songs. Unfortunately it seems like Rock Band hasn't really improved their visuals since 2010, so I don't expect the experience will be too compelling.Once they figure out how to get video working in VR to the point where we can do something like what the new Guitar Hero does in VR, that might actually be really impressive.

I certainly would have preferred to have access to all the DLC songs I purchased on PS3. I spent way too much money on those and don't see myself doing it again.

Sorry but guitar hero is a product run into the ground. I am sure it would have been great if this happened in 2005.
I just dont see the fit. People who can afford a gaming rig and an Oculus don't want to play Guitar Hero...

I am interested seeing where this goes but those PS2 graphics HOLY SHIT. Like someone said it would be ok fun to play your favorite songs while the crowd goes wild but this thing seems to have more problems than positives going for it.

Obviously the graphics look like they are from the stone age and they showed that head moshing in the video but HOW THE HELL are you actually going to do that with the rift? And while you're trying to figure that out you're probably going to trip on the wires. You can't see your hands and fingers and how do you even know which notes to play? Hope at least the guitar has motion trackers in it and wait, that's just ONE MORE thing you have to buy. Another plastic guitar. Like we all don't have enough. After all this the soundtrack has to be varied enough but still feel amazing for all the people who after all these points I've made for some reason want to buy the damn game.

Ok just for a second let's assume that the HMD is light enough and sits so tight that it wont fall but also won't be uncomfortable, the wires somehow won't get in the way if you don't spin around 360s, they'll come up with a good way to show you what notes to hit while you rock on stage AND they up those horrible graphics to if not realistic then at least to a decent or GOOD artstyle, AAND even after that the plastic toy guitar is cheap enough and you feel like you actually want to buy it, AAAAAND the soundtrack is freaking top notch. Now what if the gameplay simply just sucks? Or there is not enough content to keep you interested? Could you play online and rock with others? Maybe "rock battle" or some shit. Is there going to be a tour mode? If the tour mode has cut scenes how are those going to work? If you can move around in one part of the game wouldn't it feel very weird to be just teleported into a tour bus or something. I dunno man, let's just hope they pull a miracle and I will see all you guys becoming virtual rocks stars in Q1 2016 with Oculus Rift. Lumous, out!

Lumous, fck man, like babylon ad, u just brought the hammer down on someone's blz. Look palmy said cable management was hard. He was trying to warn people that iribe is hurting oculus, and iribes guitar thing would have lots of kids tripping on the wires hurting themselves and making lawyers rich. Look for the silver linings playbook. Comments at reddit say that although most of the guys won't buy this, their girlfriends will! So dudes hold onto your wallets, anyways if that is the best demographic for this software, why didn't they send a girl out on stage playing theses boots are made for walkin? Just shows more proof how out of touch iribe is with his own customers, sending palmy out on stage when many at reddit say this will only appeal to girlfriends. Or is palmy gonna do a Bruce Jenner and shock us all? 🙂 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CAtrkMGNp0o kwp provided this video how the lawsuits are coming for iribe

Maybe the guitar will be wireless, The cable management has got me thinking of maybe getting some kind of plunger and sticking them to the ceiling when I buy my Consumer headset. I'm sure there are some solutions to problems but then again it is more money many might not have. Although it starts off as a dedicated pc experience. I'm glad it's finally becoming reality.
