[SOLVED] A few questions needing answers...

I'm debating on whether to get a Vive or Rift, and I already have some answers for the Vive, but not the Rift... 1. I have no Home Internet, so I would go to a friend's house to do the downloads. But what I'm wondering is if I have to have internet to gain access to my games. 2. Can I have access to Steam VR to play games on there? (I have more questions that I will post later!) Thank you everyone who answers!!

cybereality,

where I live, I cannot get Home Internet. That is why I asked the questions...

Btw, if anyone here has a Rift, can you cut you're internet off, then reboot you're computer, and then try to play some games on the Rift... Just wondering if that would work because I heard that you need to sign in online, then you can play offline... (Btw, idk if this is true...)

Gwiz84,

Yes, It's a hard life, but at least I have unlimited phone internet!!

You know you could use that from your computer? You can also get routers that use a SIM card for their internet access.

JaimieVandenbergh,
I actually have an old router from Verizon. I now have AT&T. Could I use that and just put the SIM Caen in there?

Alexdmk,
I will be building the PC in about a month, and will take it to a friend's house for Games, Updates, Etc... Could I possibility download updates and games on a USB stick and then transfer it like so? I have a laptop which could come in handy...

Updates should be fine, you should be able to just overwrite the old game files in Oculus/Software/Software.
New games could be tricky, because there are some files in other folders too and I don't think that oculus home would install a game that is not listed in your library.

Many steamvr games seem to be unprotected (could be copied without problems and even started without steam), but protected steamvr games need you to be connected to the internet at least once, to verify that your game copy is legit.

If you have unlimited Smartphone Internet, you could use your smartphone as router for your PC.
Even if your mobile internet is slow, this should still help with verification.

Nipoc,
My phone is AT&T, is there a way I could tether even though my carrier doesn't let me?

PdaNet can hide thethering, but you can't download the app through the Google Play Store or with the AT&T network (otherwise they know you have a thethering app).
Download it on a PC with Internet, enable unknown sources in your device settings, copy the app on your phone and install it with a file manager like ES File Explorer or use the PdaNet PC software for that.
USBTether seems to work best and you have to activate "Hide Tether" in the app settings.

The free version is time limited, the full version costs around 8$.

Hey, I tried pdanet and it works at my house, but am I breaking any laws, or doing anything that could cost me money?
