[SOLVED] A few questions needing answers...

I'm debating on whether to get a Vive or Rift, and I already have some answers for the Vive, but not the Rift... 1. I have no Home Internet, so I would go to a friend's house to do the downloads. But what I'm wondering is if I have to have internet to gain access to my games. 2. Can I have access to Steam VR to play games on there? (I have more questions that I will post later!) Thank you everyone who answers!!

You can play Steam and Oculus Home Games offline. You obviously can't play any multiplayer only games offline.

The store states clearly on every game/experience if an internet connection is required, so far I havent seen any games saying its required.

And just our of curiosity.. how can you live without an internet connection?! :pensive:

To be honest, I think your money would be better spent foregoing VR and getting an internet connection at your home. I love VR as much as the next guy, but living without internet in these days is like living without water.

cybereality,
where I live, I cannot get Home Internet. That is why I asked the questions...

Btw, if anyone here has a Rift, can you cut you're internet off, then reboot you're computer, and then try to play some games on the Rift... Just wondering if that would work because I heard that you need to sign in online, then you can play offline... (Btw, idk if this is true...)

1. Yes, you can play games offline as long as you're not accessing multiplayer. 2. Yes, accessing SteamVR is a relatively simple process, and you once again you will be able to play games offline.

So, you did this without having to sign in? If so, then think I've decided on the Rift!

I would not recommend the Rift without Internet. All firmware upgrades/support is Internet-based. I wouldn't recommend the Vive either, all software is downloaded via Steam or some other website. How are you gonna install anything ever?

My recommendation would be to do whatever it takes to move to a new city/state/province/country where you can get a constant internet connection.

As long as you have a computer system that meets the recommended specifications, and you are able to bring that system to somewhere with an internet source and download rather large items (updates, games, etc.) on a somewhat regular basis, in addition to ensuring you only purchase games which state they do not need a internet connection, then you will be able to use Oculus Home when not connected to the internet to play games you've already installed.

Note:  This information is based off the games I played on my buddy's PC & Oculus that he brought over last weekend. I was able to play Lucky's Tale and some SteamVR experiences with no internet connection.
