Seems just putting the Rift on Brings cause to Nausea

Let me tell you why it feels this way. When you put it on, it gets hot. so one is heat, and 2 is   a smell of like burning rubber. Yeah, there's this smell and it goes right leaking from the nose area. Probably has to do with the materials and the heat.

If there was fresh air and a nice aroma or no aroma at all and less heat it wouldn't make me so prone to feeling nauseious.

Anybody else?

It sounds like you either have a very strong sense of smell or your Rift has become contaminated with a smell that i have not experienced.  Either way, as it would appear that you will need to somehow neutralise or hide that smell.  I suppose that a temporary solution might be to use some form of cosmetic face cream that has a smell that you can live with and put that under your nose or, as suggested above, you might be able to put something on the Rift itself.

However, before doing that, you might want to see if you can get hold of another Rift, and see if that one emits the same smell.  If it doesn't and it is just yours that is somehow contaminated, then you might want to contact tech support.  Although this would possibly be a rare occurrence, i'd hope that Oculus would make it good.

Good luck

I've never noticed any kind of burning smell with my Rift - it does start to get rather hot after a few hours of use though - although I try not to use it for more then 3 hours straight without a break. One thing that has helped a ton for me is starting to wear it looser and making sure that it is adjusted well on my. The front seems to rotate a bit, getting that right, and wearing the back part lower on your head can help out a ton.

Hey guys i'm back and the smell continues and it brings the feeling of nausea. And i'm not the only one. As i found out here  https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/1fcao1/its_the_smell/
People were also getting nauseated from the smell back in the DK version.

I kinda like the smell tbh it has nothing to do with heat it's just the materials used that smells that way, as for the heat I don't even feel it... it's only on the very edge of the rift the screen gets slightly warm but you can't really feel that while wearing it. None of it causes any nauseau for me.

Yes, @VRfriend2016X it has been a known issue for some time (back in the 70's when smell aversion therapy was discussed regarding cockpit simulation).  The sim-sickness lists include smell for some time. And this was brought up when VR was relaunched back in 2011, but sadly as you will see from this and Reddit forums, there is a group of 'fanboys' that are very unhappy to see any discussion on sim-sickness or any detracting issues with the hardware they are backing.

It is a sad factor of the forum business, but in offering the anonymity to discuss, this also offers a playground for those with vested interests to attack. And many of those see discussion on sim-sickness as a major danger to their aspirations - and so apply full force to shut down or discredit discussions in this vein. So to your point - yes it is an issue, yes there are many suffering from this, and yes this is a concern if not addressed for the mainstream application of the tech.

I can smell it.  Mine has a new car smell to it.  That is a smell I never liked.  It was bugging me at first, but I got used to it.  My face just starts to itch inside the goggles sometimes and that sucks.  But there's nothing they could have done about that I suppose.

The smell has been described as a mix of:

- new plastic smell (from case and packaging)
- electronic circuitry (explaining why the issue increases after long use)
- lens cleaner from the assembly process

Have I missed any?
