I met Sessler tonight at GDC, and Google cofounder Sergey Brin at IGN. For those that don't know back in 2009 I covered Pax for Neil at MTBS3D, I was the dork going around with a homemade s3d camera rig (palmer inspired me to DIY). Palmer had told me Sessler was a personal friend and to look him up at pax 09 (where do you think I learned to play off someone elses celebrity Palmer - you taught me Wise Master 😉 I took Palmers advice, Sessler talked at some session and at the end I got up and asked him about s3d gaming and showed him my s3d juryrig camera, he said s3d gaming was a gimmick, ridiculed me to high heaven, nailed my ballz to the wall talking about penis jokes and his former college roommate (and I have tried to find this video because it was hilarious - please someone help, Pax 09 with the QA session after a sessler talk)
Anyways I was going to go to the TEDx event in Vancouver this week and the wearables conference in Seattle but my friend Kevin Williams told me I should make GDC and twisted my arm with his charm. So I went, was going to go see Romero's deathmatch stuff and try to talk to him about DWANGO that I was apart of back in the day with some other IBMers in RTP. (that romero was onboard with) But he had left.
So I read redditt and Ben Lang was talking about some VR Mixxer at the MIXX, whatever that was, so I thought hey I need to show up and crash it! (geekmaster had given me this idea) While in Line I met an old friend of Neil's, Ethan Schur (who was super nice and has some exciting new stuff coming out) of HMD company TDvision, and they told us we would have to come back a little later, the event was too full.
So we did, but the door to get into IGN was closed and we had no keycard. We are about to walk off and ADAM SESSLER comes to the door, I said SESSLER let me in! He opened the door, gave me a big ole phugging bear hug, and said I love my fans! I said you may not remember me, but you destroyed me at PAX 09 on s3d and I only engaged you because Palmer had told me you and him were personal friends back in 09, and I see on reddit there is talk about you questioning VR. He said I do remember you, and I did destroy you (FUGG what a memory) and I was right wasn't I? s3d died, I said I bow in the presence of greatness and you were right Sessler. He said but VR is not S3D, and VR is going to change things, and the Sony announcement had everyone interested. Ethan showed him his new tech and Sessler was so damn cool about it. We said could we walk in with him, and he said of course!! So we got past the gate guards being in sessler's entourage and got up to the 4th level of IGN. I walk in and who is there? BRIN of GOOG! OMFG! The lord has been good to this sinner tonight! So in my best roy batty bladerunner voice, I saw things you people wouldn't believe. Life is good tonight. Thank you sessler, thank you IGN, thank you Palmer and Neil. I even got to eat the good icecream cake that was passed out (and not the pieces that fell on IGN's floor - LOL! - but fresh good cake) (pictures on the way in a few minutes)
I talked with the developers of Narcosis, I was wearing a johnny cash shirt with "outlaw music" on it (my dad was good friends with the man in black back at nam) and he said he got married the day johnny cash died, so good and bad feelings that day! Thanks Johnny!

Mentioning TDVision reminded me about the TD Visor which took me to a thread on MTBS3D from 2007 where Carl Kenner wished LeepVR lenses were in the TD Visor, then I think he kind of described kind of how the rift works. I found that thread interesting, thanks for leading me there. Don't know why I didn't come across it years ago when I wanted a TD Visor.
Oh, and I am currently sitting in an old IBM building in RTP. *kawinkidink*
