Shipping date update

I was counting down hours till I could finally preorder the cv1. Then the crash happened. I was at work at the time so I wasn't able to get my preorder in till 2:28 pm eastern. My order is expected to ship in May. Now I'm a lil pissed. I really hope there will be plenty of fake queues and people who decide not to pay. I'd be fine with April. Will we have to wait till the oculus actually ships to know if the order has been bumped up?

Can someone please post me a link where anyone got DK2 earlier then expected? That is, after been given a date and then getting it earlier then that date? I'm not convinced anyone will get CV1 earlier then expected. I never saw anyone on these forums getting the DK2 earlier. I just saw people complaining that the Dk2 was taking ages to come and sometimes arriving later then expected. My DK2 arrived a month later then expected even though I ordered fairly early. How come I didn't get my DK2 earlier then, if this is what happens?

I can ask about sending an email notification. I don't think it was in the plans, but I have heard this requested by a number of people. And it's something we did do for DK2 so it makes sense.

Please do, because let's be honest. Not sending notifications prior to order shipping or even a notification that the order shipped is shockingly amateurish. Name ONE successful business that does that. No one in their right mind is going to take six hundred of your dollars then be like "welp, you'll know your packaged shipped when it's on your door step, until then you won't know!" Ignoring the fact that people could go on business trips, vacations, live in apartment complexes where they might actually not want to have it just show up on your door step and a multitude of different situations where doing that is a horrible, horrible horrible decision.

It's an Idiotic decision, plain and simple.

Or do the great minds at Oculus actually expect people to be sitting on their thumbs not moving a muscle from March 28th onward?

Not trying to insult, I'm just really blown away at how stupid that is.

Yeah please give us a mail when it's going to ship. We paid about 40€ for the shipping this must be covered by it!

I think it should also require a signature. On saying that though someone called John signed for a parcel of mine 2 months ago and I never got it back. The delivery bloke couldn't even remember which door he had taken it to :? .

I hope John doesn't end up with my CV1, because I'll knock on every door in the neighborhood looking for him this time. I hope he's satisfied with the last parcel he got of me which was a dressing gown. I can just picture John in my dressing gown smoking a big cigar. I just hope he's not wearing my dressing gown and Rift come this June. I canceled ordering slippers for obvious reasons.

My DK1 was left in my front yard, the australia post delivery person hid it behind a plant. No doorbell (I was home and waiting), no "we missed you" note, no signature. I found it the next day. At least the case inside of the box was plastic, it had rained overnight. Security camera footage showed that the delivery person didn't even try the doorbell.

I had the DK2 delivered to my work place instead. It arrived while I was teaching a C++ class. 🙂

We do need email notification. I will probably be in work when mine arrives. If I know when it is getting shipped out one of my parents can wait in my apartment for me.

I would actually be releived to pay today, so it's done. I just want my Rift at home ASAP.

Absolutely. Oculus should give us the option to initiate payment. I feel excited to pre order but it doesn't feel real since my money is still sat in the bank.

It should be possible for them to send emails out for batches when they are getting close to shipping as should have a good idea at that time that they can get that batch out, say one or two weeks before shipping.

One thing I did notice when ordering is that tracking will be available when the order ships, so likely will get an email then with the tracking number.

At least the people who get their shipments later will be billed later so they cannot really complain that they have to set aside $600 in 5 months.

The people in June shouldn't complain then as they have an extra month before payment.

People in March could complain but it's at the end of March. March 28 I saw a date during the process.
