Should I overclock the refresh rate of my TV?

I use my LG 55LM620T TV as my computer monitor also and it runs at 60hz. However I am able to overclock it to 75hz through the Nvidia Control Panel.

I would just like to know if it is necessary? And if so, what are the pro's and con's of doing such a thing.

I did a quick test and can overclock it to 75hz at its native 1080p resolution and it seemed to work fine, but since reading that it will reduce the lifespan of the TV, I also wanted to know if reducing the resolution to maintain 75hz helps to reduce the impact on the monitor compared to running at native resolution & 75hz.

as far as I can tell, it's totally not needed for directtorift demos. They run at 75hz/fps no matter what your tv is.
If You run extended demos, tho, You need to either unplug Your TV or make it 75hz.
Don't know if just making rift a primary main monitor will help
