Apple started with the priority of making their headset as powerful as possible using their M2 processor plus a co-processor they're calling an R2, so it will be able to do the things that their iPads, iPhones and Macs can do within a special environment.
On that basis, I don't think any battery housed within the headset or strap would have sufficient capacity to drive the headset and be light enough, even without the eye display screen.
I can't find specs for their battery pack other than it's about 350g in weight, which would equate to about 75Wh (very rough estimate). They're stating 2 - 2.5 hours of use so that would mean 30-37.5W power consumption. That sounds very high, so maybe 25-30W is a more conservative estimate.
Anyway, the most that the Quest 3 demands in power (that I've measured) is 12W during heavy mixed reality gaming, and the battery lasts about 1.5 - 2 hours.
So by my reconning, the Vision Pro battery is about 3 times the size of the Quest 3's and that's all about what Apple want the headset to be... an alternative to using an iphone, iPad or Mac.
