Showcasing the Oculus Rift at a local LAN.

I'm planning on showcasing the Oculus Rift at a local LAN, the LAN last year grow to about 200 people. I really love showing people the Oculus and I know the people who host the LAN so I can get a free stand to set up a demonstrations. I just want to find out if you guys have any idea on what I can do or what demo's I must use.

I'm saving up to buy a Razer Hydra for the positional tracking in Sixense Tuscany and other features in other demos. I was thinking of having a glass case to display the Oculus suitcase and a monitor to show the crowd what is being seen on the Oculus. I have a high-end PC with a xBox controller and one Devkit.

Here is my demo list:
Games
Bouncer VR
Discoverie 7DFPS
Dumpy Going Elephant

Demo
Tuscany Demo
Rift Coaster
Fallen Angels
Museum of the Microstar v1.0

Hyrda (Ones that looks cool)
DrumsVR
HydraDeck
Oculus Maximus
Sixense Tuscany Demo

I really liked the Virtual Vertigo Challenge setup.

This is the flyer I made to hand out to the people. (I know there is a spelling mistake or two but will fix it)

The LAN is called LANX, it's being hosted in South Africa, Gauteng, Pretoria North in July.

Thanks for the reply's so far everyone!! Kinda getting stoked to demo the Oculus! Just irritated that it's still about 4 months away.... But if you guys come up with extra ideas, demos or info please post it and let me know!! 😄

Will get a webcam or three to record the reactions and upload to YouTube after the LAN! 😄

And check this out if you guys haven't seen yet. It's a couple of wireless sensors you strap on your body and control your character with your body! going to try and get this for the LAN as well.

yeah, after a couple demos to warm people up, you have to let them play dreadhalls, obviously with a closed headphoneas at high volume, without letting the other see what's happening inside (thus monitor off) but just looking at the people's reactions 😄
You just tell them the way the game works, look down for the map, open the doors, search for the oil, run from enemies, etc, so they are ready to go

I suggest avoiding the Rift Coaster demo. It gives a bad impression of roller coasters, and it gives an inaccurate impression of the Rift, because it doesn't rotate the camera correctly when the train banks around corners.

One of the better coaster demos out there is the Tornado Rollercoaster, which is a recreation of an actual coaster in Germany. It's not perfect; For example, the speed isn't quite right, and I think the scale is wrong as well, but at least it rotates the on-board camera correctly so that you actually feel like a passenger sitting in the car. You will find some other rides on this page as well.

Lets you write in the air etc
(and in my second session I dumped a jet into a mountain with outerra... and a flakey positional tracking...wasn't good lol)

Download Great Power and play the Superman music when in it. 😄 By far one of the best demos for a first impression .
Got a game in development or a cool piece of VR tech you want to show off? We are looking for demos, trailers and all things VR. Just send us a mail and we would be more than happy to feature it on our site. http://www.virtualrealityreviewer.com

I'd suggest Pumpkin Punch for Hydra but only if you are able to control whether or not the player might punch/hit something in reality. Great fun though, right up there with Wii Sports in terms of fun factor (for me, at least).

Be careful with Museum of the Microstar -- it's been a while since I played it but it had some pretty sickening latency from its heavy use of DirectX11.

If the player is able to stand up during the experience (and optionally rely on someone/something for balance), I could suggest one of my own demos: Bestiary XI. It's fairly short and demo-able, and from what I've seen can get quite a varied range of reactions out of it.
