So... Is Oculus up to its promise so far?

OK. After the April 12 clusterf%$# we got a supposedly conservative and realistic shipping date estimate. Half a month in, how is Oculus keeping up with its (latest but probably no the last) promise? What's your shipping estimate? Has your Rift been shipped on time?

Asking because the fulfillment of my order still doesn't look quite likely. I've got a 25m pre-order (group 29), United States. Currently my estimated shipping time is May 16 - 26. According to the Reddit live stream shipping tracker, by the end of this week, processed US pre-orders haven't yet reached the 7m line, and the general progress is like 30 seconds per week. There's a little bit more than 3 weeks to May 26. I don't think it's possible to ship out 19 minutes' worth of pre-orders by the look of how Oculus' doing it?

What about you guys? Has Oculus already dropped the ball yet again on your shipping date estimate?

Why bother with this ? A lot of us are waiting. We wait coz we want. So who cares about ball dropping or estimates or anything really ? I'll get my Rift when it's here and not before. Dislike all you want but thems the facts and WE cannot change them.

Yeah I hear your typical fanboy/long-term-Kickstarter-backer logic. You are raped so just enjoy the intercourse because it's a fact. Dislike all you want but you can't unrape yourself.

Actually it is rather important.  I've been involved many times with the launch of new products and yes they always have some level of start up problems.  The issue for Oculus is whether they have a more fundamental problem with the supply of one(or more) of their components.  Yield of good parts is critical to new technologies. You don't want to use bad parts because you piss off the customers and you can't ship more units than you can make.

Manufacturing efficiency determines the number of good units that can be produced in a given amount of time.  Their shipping schedules both initial and revised was based on certain assumptions about how many units could be produced per unit of time.

If they can meet the revised schedule (or there abouts) it means that the manufacturing process is coming on line.  If they can't meet the revised schedule it means the manufacturing process is continuing to struggle.  That means bigger problems for Oculus and it's customers.

I would thank you for that cyber but then it'll confirm the OP's comment on Stockholm syndrome 😉

Thank you bro. It's great to hear from an insider source. Looks like fulfillment in EU/AU/NZ are way ahead right now, most likely because of having less orders to start with. Hopefully when you are done with them, their dedicated allocation can be utilized to help the US home turf a bit...
