It's 2022. There are more than enough frameworks available for cross-platform building, including Electron. When will Meta, a billion dollar company, support other OSes other than Windows? Seeing Windows 11 coming closer and closer, merely installing "Windows for playing games" isn't just going to work anymore, considering the privacy violating OS that it is (much worse than Windows 10) and also requires you to have a Microsoft account.
Google, Apple, Valve, even Microsoft, all started supporting Linux more and more and giving it the recognition it deserves. Yet, here we are. Facebook/Meta stuck in the past, only supporting one OS.
My expectation on when this will happen is... "never". At least, not by Facebook/Meta. Linux users may create ways to do this, but I wouldn't expect Facebook/Meta to bother. Also, where did you get the idea that Microsoft in any way endorses or recognizes Linux as anything other then a competitor they would love to stamp out? My understanding is that people have had to create Linux modules to trick a computer into thinking it's running a Windows OS or have Windows also installed if they want to run anything that Microsoft publishes or endorses.
Hell, Microsoft has a long history of intentionally screwing over end users who dare try to use non-Microsoft approved software. For example MSDOS was not the only DOS software available. And they all worked identically. But Microsoft included code in Windows specifically designed to make it look like the competing DOS software was buggy as hell.
If they could get away with it, Microsoft would likely love to get Apple entirely out of the computer business and shut down all Linux kernels. They'd also love it if Google got out of the OS business too.

Given that Apple products aren't even capable of non VR AAA games at high resolution with 60 FPS or higher, I can't imagine what people expect anybody other than Apple to do for Apple products, as far as VR is concerned.
Combine that with Apple doing things like suddenly creating their own API a few years back, getting rid of the standard API's, and letting game developers take the blame for all the sudden hiccups..... They just don't play well with others, even moreso than Windows. I'm sure we'll get an apple VR set at some point. One that only works with apple products.
As I understand it, Microsoft's support of Linux starts and ends with "If you install Windows on your computer, you now have access to any program that runs on Windows." Apple's support for Linux to my knowledge starts and ends with "it's not the OS we designed, so it's not approved and may void your warranty." Apple has become the king of self contained ecosystems after all. When you buy a Mac, you get it "as is". It's not upgradable, and you have to use the OS that comes pre-installed. Hell, Apple has been moving towards their products not being serviceable either for years now. I'm pretty sure Google's chromebooks also use an OS made by Google.
As far as I'm aware, any "support for Linux" on a Mac, PC, or Chromebook is because Linux users have done all of the work to make things functional. That includes Linux users/developers creating modules that trick programs into thinking you're running Windows since without that your software options are more limited then Mac users.
Which is not to say I think VR should be exclusive to Windows PCs. I think VR should be available regardless if you use a Mac, Chromebook, Windows PC, Linux, or two tin cans tied together with a string. But the sad reality is that Linux is still an underdog niche OS, and that Apple don't like anyone else playing in their sandbox. But Apple will happily let you use their shovel in your own sandbox so long as you only use it on Apple's sand. And that metaphor got weird.
