If you are in the US or Canada, Horizon Worlds is no longer invite only, anyone can join, if they are 18+.

A bit annoying that it's not world wide.

The Verge article says it's a Quest app. The UploadVR article says it's for Quest2 and Rift, support for Quest 1 will end Jan 13 2022.

I'm a bit surprised that Oculus is favouring the Rift over the Quest 1.

Really they should be pushing this for all headsets. Not just Oculus ones, but every brand.

Apparently the age requirement will be verified using the age in your Facebook profile.

People have been asking for a while about whether the Facebook age will affect 18+ game purchases. So far it hasn't, but Horizon is bringing it in.

Hi Kojack! I meet the criteria but can't download the app from the Quest 2 store. It says "coming soon" and I'm not sure why. Have you heard of this? Any help you can offer is appreciated!

Anyone open to setting up some community hangout sessions? 😎

Love to know the timescale for other regions. I'm guessing 'rest of the world' will all be lumped together for the general release. But just so they know, someone in the UK is very keen to try it out!

@kojack  Where did you see it was Rift and Q2, with the Q1 support ending Jan 13 2022?  I read the Linked article and could not see this.  Looking forward to creating either a Kangaroo or Crocodile Dundee avitar once it comes down under, lol!

Edit, ok I see that now on Kevin's linked article;

It was in the UploadVR article, the second link in my post.

"Horizon Worlds beta is open to anyone aged 18+ in the United States and Canada from today on the Quest and Rift platforms. Support for the original Quest 1 will end January 13, 2022."

As I'm in Australia, I can't even test if it works. Sorry, no idea what's up with it for you.

Thanks @Tom - yes, shame we could not have merged that innocent duplication rather than wield the "close" hammer - but hey ho.

Was interesting to see the current age restriction - a lot of stories about the original close Beta, and experienced some of them regarding the "teen-speak". Moderation is going to be a vital element of this.

Just wonder how much it will be different to RecRoom as the cards lay eventually.

Simple reason, if your thread had made a comment in it or others had commented, I would have merged it to preserve the comments (as I did with the other thread you duplicated recently after kojack had already posted), otherwise no point. The info Tom was asking about was in kojack's link.

In any event probably good to check existing threads, particularly new posts as they're easy to spot before creating a new one, then there'll be no issues.
