SteamVR Performance Test released

Bendak

Valve has just put up a new VR benchmark to test out your system. Unlike the Oculus compatibility checker, this runs an actual benchmark. The Vive has very similar requirements to the Rift, so the "VR Ready" rating it gives should be comparable. The recommended i5-4590 and GTX 970 scores well into "VR Ready" on this benchmark. It can also score you in a middle ground of "VR capable" where it indicates some VR software may work, but that your experience may be sub-optimal. Ideally you want to be in the green.

You can download it here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/323910/

Just remember this does not test HDMI output capabilities (important for laptop users), nor your USB 3.0 ports. You still need to run the Oculus tool for the complete picture.

It seems the max fidelity score you can get is 11.

I haven't posted my score, eh?

Just 10.7, i7-5820k, Titan X and Win10.

Looking at that chart, despite the score evaluation, EVERYTHING AMD is red... what's up with that? Is the test just totally flaking out or is it legitimate (though I find that hard to believe).

He color coded AMD Red, Nvidia Green en Intel Blue... he even says so in his text above the chart...

I edited in the color description after the original post. It's possible he asked his question before my edit. Sorry for any confusion.

I see... I thought it was passing or failing.

Here the results from my 2 desktops.
Are you going for a "fair" setup with matching a GTX 980 with a 965, and the 780 with a 4770k?

The 780 with the 4770K was a build I did for fun and see how well it would work. It in a mini-ITX case and water cooled. It was a pain in the ass getting everything working and I really don't want to take things apart to upgrade video card. At the time I built it the Geforce 700's was the newest generation.

The I7 965 I have had for 7 and half years and had a Radeon 4870x2 in it for a long time. When the 980 came out decided it was a good time to finally get rid of the Radeon 4870x2.

The 965 system will properly be replace sometime in 2017 when the skylake-e comes out.(or zen if it somehow manage to beat the skylake-e).

So circumstances dictated this situation but yeah I admit on paper it looks strange that I don't have my most powerful video card matched with my most powerful cpu.
