Stick-Drift / Meta Quest 3, left controller must be calibrated every time.

I have had the Meta Quest 3 for 1 month, I am very satisfied, except with the left controller. Every time I switch it off and on again, the controller no longer works properly.
The direction at 2 o'clock does not work. Only when I calibrate the controller does it work again. Is it defective? Device is only 1 month old, it has never been dropped, always used with care.

@Nova2040  meta touch controllers use cheap analogue joystick controllers that often suffer from stick drift. Send it back for a replacement that works properly as it's still under warranty.

Thanks, I will do that, I hope they will give me a replacement in time, but I don't think so. Are there better controllers from third party manufacturers? The originals are also very expensive if I buy them individually

@Nova2040  sorry, there are no third party manufacturers that produce touch controllers. Quest pro controllers also work with the Quest 3 but they're also very expensive and have the same cheap joystick modules. If your headset was out of warranty, it's worth replacing the joystick modules yourself if they drift. The modules are cheap and easy to replace if you follow the tutorials on youtube. Or take the controller to a phone shop and ask them to do it for you. I've replaced joystick modules and the LED ribbon cables to get them working again.

I find it hard to understand why these subpar controllers are priced so high. It seems that Meta is taking advantage of its market dominance. Improvements should definitely be made in this area, or at the very least, third-party manufacturers should be allowed to produce their own versions to encourage more variety and competition.

@Nova2040  perhaps this method may work for your Q3 controller drift with less teardown.

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing to us and for providing the details about your Meta Quest 3 controller issue. We're sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with the left controller.

Given that your device is only one month old and has been used with care, it's possible that there might be a defect. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check the Batteries: Ensure that the batteries are properly inserted and have sufficient charge. Sometimes, low battery levels can cause issues with controller functionality.

Perform a Hard Reset: Remove the batteries from the controller for at least 30 seconds, then reinsert them. This can help reset the controller's internal hardware.

Clean the Controller: Dust and debris can sometimes affect the controller's performance. Use compressed air to clean around the joystick and other components.

Re-pair the Controller: Unpair the controller from the Meta Quest app and then pair it again. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

Update Firmware: Make sure your Meta Quest 3 headset and controllers are running the latest firmware. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve performance.

If none of these steps work, it might be best to contact Meta Quest Support directly for further assistance. Select our name to get to our profile page, or click here

Thank you, MetaQuest Support,

I appreciate your advice and will follow your recommendations. This morning, we went to Media Markt to exchange or send the controller in for repair. However, they refused to do so and instead insisted that I return the entire Meta Quest and receive a new one. I would prefer not to do that, as only the controller is defective.

I will follow your suggestions, and if they do not work, I will reach out to your support team.

Once again, I want to emphasize how satisfied I am with both the Quest 2 and Quest 3—we use them with great enthusiasm!

Hi there,

We appreciate your feedback and your willingness to follow our recommendations.

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced.

We understand your preference to exchange or repair only the defective controller.

Please continue with the suggestions provided. If they do not resolve the issue, do not hesitate to contact us privately for further assistance.

Once again, we are delighted to hear about your enthusiasm for the Quest 2 and Quest 3.

Your satisfaction is our priority, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

Best regards.

Hello,

Unfortunately, the stick drift issue is getting worse. During calibration, the cursor shakes uncontrollably and jumps back and forth, particularly at the two o'clock position. As a result, we are no longer able to use the controller. We have already contacted support, who responded quickly, and we are currently working on a solution.
