I just received my CV1 yesterday....so far everything is great except there is a strange image warping that I see when looking left to right or up and down.
Is anyone else getting this strange effect? I looks SLIGHTLY (as in VERY SLIGHTLY) like there is no positional tracking.
I'm wondering if my lenses are defective.
For reference, I have both DK1, DK2 ,& Vive...and this is the first time I'm seeing this effect.
Does anyone else notice this on their headset? If not, I may have to get a new one.... :(.
I have noticed this as well, it seems like when looking around there is an effect of "floating" back and forth. It's really hard to explain. Where do you have your sensor bar placed? Mine is high to the left of me and I am thinking that may be the problem.
I noticed this too. More of a warping than moving back and forward though. I figured it was something that couldn't be compensated with the predistortion for the lenses. Noticed a similar effect when wearing glasses, in real life, with only minor prescription, and panning left and right.
Have you tried adjusting vertical position of the lenses to the eyes to see if the effect is minimized?
I honestly don't remember it on the DK1 and Dk2, but these fresnel lenses are very different from those and these remain very clear to the edges. Today I have a VIVE coming in, I'll be looking out for this.
I've had the CV1 sensor on the upper right of me. When seated, I usually face the monitor. Standing, I'll then have the HMD level with the camera and facing it instead of the monitor. I haven't thought much about it after initially noticing it when seated and can't recall what game I was using. So at least it's something you forget about, depending on the game. I probably noticed it while testing I some interference to the camera that caused some position noise. Though, that noise is completely different from the distortion I see as the image pans as I turn.
I have the camera at about 10 to 11 o'clock in front of me at the same level as my face. I'll try putting it directly in front of me to see if that does the trick.
I've tried adjusting the vertical position of the rift on my face ( if that's what you mean)....but it doesn't make any difference for the warping.
I also have this issue, have been working with Oculus support since I got my rift. They replaced it, and it seemed to be fixed for a few days with the new unit, but then it came back. Let me get you links to the other threads, and you can see if it looks similar to what you experience.
I just checked out the tread...it sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing. If I didn't have dk1, dk2 and Vive I would have thought it was normal.
I didn't notice if anyone that has this issue tried disabling any software tricks like asynchronous time warp....not sure if it's even possible with the Cv1 and SDK 1.4
