Hi
Im new to this and want to get into VR but I am unsure about what laptop requirements I need.
I have saw this laptop and think it would do for the Oculus Rift I want to get.
Need someone to confirm it would do the job.

Intel Core i5 7300hq quad core processor
2.5GHz processor speed
8GB RAM DDR4
NVIDIAGeForce GTX 1060 graphics card
1 x USB 2.0
2 x USB 3.0
1 HDMI port

Apologies for being unsure and asking what might be simple question to you.

Thanks
Ian

On paper the specs are fine but I strongly recommend a desktop instead. Laptops tend to be a massive can of worms when it comes to VR (not only with the Rift) as the required HDMI output is frequently only wired to the Intel crap GPU instead of the discrete card (GTX 1060 in this case).

You are on a roll today @BeastyBaiter !  .. and yes , like stated above many laptops are incompatible with the rift, even if they meet the minimum spec, there are some Rift approved laptops out there, like this:

The 1060 option is about $1020

Some laptops work but, in general, it's a bad idea. So many are incompatible, even ones that claim "VR Ready".

Thanks for your help.
I liked the idea of a laptop for portability.

This one might just be ok - if you really want a laptop for VR  B)

It has 4 x USB 3.0, should be ok, and I think it can run Seeking Dawn, well sort of  😉

Thanks RuneSR2. Bit too expensive for me at the moment, do you think this one would work well?
Has better spec than Oculus recommended System requirements, if not what is it lacking?

I'd recommend against a laptop for Rift. So many are incompatible (even with decent specs).
