The Bright Side If You Miss The First Shipment

I was thinking... aww man I hope I don't miss the first shipment and have to wait until august to get my DK2...

But then I thought of the bright side, if your in the second/third tier of shipments then yes you'll be getting them later on but on a positive note, I bet there will be allot more content and demos for the DK2 ready by the time the those later people receive the rifts. Day 1 receivers may not have lots to play around with on the DK2 until some demos come out. At least this is what experience has taught me from purchasing the DK1 many moons ago.

Just some positive food for thought for anyone worried about missing the first ship.

If I get mine late, I will have enough time left to build myself a gaming PC with the little money I have.

I hope one of the first to receive the DK2 is the Tridef-3D team, so we'll have the much awaited update from them!
That said, I really wanted to begin developing something with UE4, so the fastest I get the dk2 the fastest I begin.

I also can't wait to see new DK2 videos on YouTube, this will definitely keep me occupied for another few weeks if I don't make it in the first batch. 🙂

The bright side of making the first shipment: You won't be distracted as much by available demos and can spend more time on adding DK2 support to whatever you are developing.

I'm very patient, I've waited over 20 years for 'good' VR I can wait another 2 months (I pre-ordered in April btw).

The bright side for me is that I can finish many things I need to do before VR distracts me from reality for the next 20 years... and work more on software so that when it does arrive my first experience can be my own stuff (virtual narcissism? 😉 )

Yes, I think the same thing. I wish first arrives are for real developers just like (nope) me

I ordered 2nd May and I already figured that getting it a little later should mean that there's more content available, which is good as my professional interest in the Rift is more around seeing if I can get the organisation I work for interested in it, so the more content there is the better.

I hope for August, but since there is some delay, I might be receiving DK2 in early September (ordered in May).
(better be surprised than disappointed)

But to be fair, I think I wouldn't want to get it in July.
DK2 will be a bomb. The later I get it, the better will be the first day. And I already know it will be awesome.
By then, we'll have tons of demos supporting DK2 available, and a few first alpha/beta versions of new things, designed specifically for DK2.
August is the sweet spot, I think.
Although I won't be strong enough to resist, and I'll watch every interesting youtube video about DK2, that pops out. And then I'll be really angry because they have so much fun, and I don't have DK2 yet. 😉
But I've waited 20 years. 1-2 months are not that bad.
I've bought my VooDoo 4MB late. The first day (many games supporting it) was glorious. I was checking the games and demos until morning. I wouldn't be able to do that, if I bought it a year earlier.
The same goes for PS2. First adopters, in the first day, played Fantavision and Ridge Racer V. I played Gran Turismo 3 and Devil May Cry.
The bright side of being late is definitely huge. 🙂
Not an Oculus hater, but not a fan anymore. Still lots of respect for the team-Carmack, Abrash. Oculus is driven by big corporation principles now. That brings painful effects already, more to come in the future. This is not the Oculus I once cheered for.
