The Rift is awesome. I do not understand why people were or are talking bad about it

Before i got my rift there was all this talk about FOV, Godrays, whatever....and how the rift sucks compared to Vive. and how playing with a Xbox controller is stupid. Well guess what? I got my rift and it's awesome. and i sit playing with my xbox controller. The god ray thing is minimal and since i'm making my own games, i have unlimited things i can do. Plus about not being physical...you can actually be physical while sitting down. I have tested it on my games i'm making just  move your legs as if walking or running or jumping. It feels like you are. move your torso to get upper body exercise. Pretty awesome.

Not having Touch is not a problem if you use your imagination like you used to WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD , you can imagine anything even if you have an xbox controller on your hands. But some  of those complaining don't like to imagine i guess.

I'm also making my games very interactive by combinations of key presses and holds. and with FPS arms attached and multiple animations given to them depending on keypresses, it feels like i'm that person. MOreover what helps is SOUND.  Environmental sounds, and just sound in general.

Anyways my Rift has been awesome. Oh and another thing people have said about the rift is that it feels like scuba diving goggles. oh well yeah so what? Our peripheral vision is in fact the same thin. aside from what i see facing straight ahead, i see my nose if i want to focus on it, and the peripheral vision is just blurr. I can't really tell what's going on unleess i turn my head and focus. But you know what helps in real life to know what is going on?  SOUND.  So a game that has a good element of 3D Sound solves many issues .

ANyways, all i have to say A+ to the Oculus Rift CV1. yeah little blurry not entirely sharp clear, but so what ?  it's still works.

Now that the pre-orders have finally been sorted out, the influx of individuals to this forum who understand the things you just discussed is growing quite nicely. The collective IQ around here is steadily moving upwards. Hooray!

hahaha @Zenbane, I agree
(even though I'm a relative newcomer)
Though you are more than slightly incoherent, I agree with you Madam,
a plum is a terrible thing to do to a nostril.

There are some who think that optical clarity and good contrast are the main criteria of a display.  These features have been put back to fourth or fifth priority after weight, cost, ease of manufacture, and availability. The view has been compromised ... as in: made less good.

This is important to me because I believe that high contrast is one of the hallmarks of natural vision in the real world.  The main feature of immersion.  Realism.  FOV is next in importance.

Yeah, same here, the lead up to getting my Rift reminded me that 75% of what people type/say is complete garbage and to stick with opinions of people either that I actually know or at least know have some credibility ie not here or reddit...and also to ignore anyone's opinion that chose the Vive over a Rift 😉

I agree it is incredible. Most of the complainers are probably to young to know how the visuals were not good at the beginning of gaming and took years to improve but the games were fun and people were sold on it. Same is going to happen with vr.

I actually almost feel nostaligia when i play ED because of the screen resolution, it feels almost like i'm inside an older computer game. Looking at your ship it looks more like a modern game because it's close but things in the distance look very pixelated. Still great though.

It's pretty much because people overhyped the thing and said it was so perfect and so clear and weren't realistic. People went in expecting crystal clear, perfect images and it's obviously anything but. However, for those that know about the real world, realism, and current technologies, it's a friggin state-of-the-art masterpiece. We knew not to expect absolute visual perfection because that doesn't exist and won't for a long time. But for those that took resolution, technological power, and visual engineering were almost always blown away by it.

TL;DR (shame on you): People expected the impossible, and realists or VRgins were happy or blown away by it. As it should be.
