Guess now is the time, since they made it complete useless with 1.3...

It may not be too useful anymore, but it is an interesting piece of VR history. It may have some value as a collector's item, so I would just hold onto it for now.

DK2, CV1, Go, Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3.

If you start getting nostalgic for the DK1, just put on your CV1 and turn off low-latency, drop the resolution, and put a 2lb weight on the front.  😉

Just pack it up in its box and put it away somewhere. In 20 years you might be glad you did.

DK2, CV1, Go, Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3.

Define where you got 2.6 people from....

That´s an educated guess. Seriously though, who in their right mind would actually want to use a DK1? Get a friggin DK2 on ebay or something. If DK1 support could have been achieved without effort, then maybe. But I wouldn´t waste a single man hour for that.

Okay, so you don't need to put the 2lb weight on the front.  But the rest stands.

I'm sitting on a May date (because the website kept turning down my credit card with no feedback in the initial few minutes - had to wait till after work to get it sorted, which got me May), I have a DK1 here, not about to shell out 700$ to 800$ CAN for a DK2. I'm sure there are plenty of people in a similar situation that would love to check out some of the new software.

I'm in the same boat. I only have a DK1 at the moment and have June ship date for CV1. Palmer said he would not drop support for DK1 or DK2. Just give it a few days. I bet someone or Oculus will find a work around.

1.DK1 is great. Love the case. CV1 has a dope case, but imo DK1 case is still the best one out there.
2.It works in extended mode with some old demos. I can almost guarantee that in 2038 it will be next to impossible to find/download working 0.7 or 0.8 SDK Runtime 😉 And even if you do, they won't work on Windows '38 or whatever 😄 But it shouldn't be a problem to use DK1 as a separate monitor with some form of futuristic XYZ to HDMI adapter. I'm planning to keep a bunch of older "extended mode only" demos on a pendrive and store it with my DK1.
3.As others have said it's a historical item (although not really a collectible if opened). I'd keep it. This resolution, this SDE. High persistence. We will remember all of this with sentiment.
