To leave rift plugged in or to not, that is the question.

Literally the question ^ Should I unplug my rift from the HDMI whenever I'm done using it or is it okay to let it stay plugged in 24/7 ?? Thanks !

Sorry, I have a really bad habit of taking things seriously... and the odd thing is, I knew you were joking. I wonder if I was just tired or something.

@vrmower Does that method stop the Rift from generating any heat what so ever while being plugged in?

My ideal solution for keeping it plugged in would be if the graphics card had a way to stop that HDMI port from being active with a click.

Just measured with IR.  In a small area at the top it reads about 10f above background.  ovrservice had been shut down for about 10 hrs prior to measuring.

I always unplug all the Rift devices and put them into the nice bag that came with them. At the moment I can use them by sitting on a floor only because of the cables' length.
Once I get a working combination of splitters and extension cables and get back to my desk I may consider leaving them plugged.

Why do you have to sit on the floor if you don't mind me asking? Most people can sit at a desk with their CV1, so I'm just curious why you have to sit on the flloor.

I've got the computer in the next room and cables drawn through the walls to my desk. That way I can keep my home theatre quiet. The Rift and its sensor don't like my current cable extensions and I have ordered new ones.

Meanwhile the only way to use Rift is to connect the cables directly to my computer through the doorway. In that case I'm unable to use the Rift by my desk, hence the floor position.
