To leave rift plugged in or to not, that is the question.

Literally the question ^ Should I unplug my rift from the HDMI whenever I'm done using it or is it okay to let it stay plugged in 24/7 ?? Thanks !

There are different vies on that.. I can't afford to be without my Rift as I'm making a game so I unplug mine.

And I use an extension cable so I don't unplug my rift but my extension cable..

I leave mine plugged in, just make sure not to forget Oculus Home opened...I forgot it a whole weekend the other day and the Rift was hot as hell

I unplug man when I am done using it. I am still very careful not to damage the cables, but I don't like leaving it out or running hot at all. The idea to use extensions is pretty smart, they can take the wear and tear of plugging in and out each day.

All the time Oculus Home isn't running, the HMD isn't on...is it?

It's in standby mode I believe where the lenses aren't activated but the sensor is waiting for you to place the HMD on your head.

I'm frightened to unplug the damn thing in case it doesn't switch on again lol
A PC with lots of gadgets inside and a thing to see in 3D that you put on your head.

Have a couple of batch files that run:
net start ovrservice
and
net stop ovrservice

Respectively to turn Rift on and off when I want to use it.  They are setup as desktop icons with keyboard shortcuts assigned to make it really easy to start and stop whenever I want to use it.

The nice thing is stopping service closes everything Rift related in one action including Oculus home. With ovrservice shut down there is no discernible heating so I keep it plugged in all the time.  This also prevents unnecessary background resource consumption constantly trying in vain to connect to facebook systems.

Just turn off oculus home.  My GPU runs 10c hotter when home is running, cools down straight away when you turn off home.

You can leave it plugged in without problem. It may be slightly warm to the touch in standby, but it should be fine. I've never had an issue and mine's been plugged in for months.

I've left mine plugged in for about a month now without issue.
