This is really surprising to me. I'm lucky in one instance in that I work from home mainly but I do go out and sometimes miss deliveries.
My UPS guy is great, it's always the same guy, he always knocks and gets a signature for everything. If I miss him he tries the neighbours and always leaves a card telling me he's either dropped it off there or taken it back.
He's asked me to take stuff in for other folk as well and I always ask if he's put a card through his door which he has.
I guess you have to include the attitude of the driver as well as UPS themselves into this.
Wow, I'm so sorry for you! That really does hurt... Especially the non-required sign which doesn't make sense to me at all. I was under the assumption that signing had to be done as I signed when my DK2 arrived, I guess I just have the fortune of a good UPS delivery driver. Hope you get this solved, and I can only echo what Dreamwriter said above, make sure UPS (or make sure Oculus makes sure UPS) knows the driver in question marked it as "Mailbox" even though you have no mailboxes. Like Dreamwriter says, chances are you'll be stuck with that particular UPS driver and it'd be hell for you if it happened again when CV1 eventually comes around.
Some people are upset that a package doesn't need a signature but some are just as upset that a package does need a signature. It's not a one size fits all world.
Anyone who wants delivery security should see if they can have it held at the local office and just go pick it up. It adds more checks and balances and no driver gets the chance to take it for themselves.
I always do this for anything of value. Not because I don't trust my UPS guy as he is really good, but because where I live sometimes people follow the trucks and steal packages hoping for something of value or it could be his day off.
But... but... but... I just NEED to know about the Baba! The Baba has me hypmotized! :shock:
