UPS Have lost my DK2

Was surprised to get a shipping note yesturday (UK) and it was out for delivery today.

Got home to find no parcel... But then I went to the UPS site and it showed delivered at 11:54 to "Mailbox"

I rang them and thats all they can tell me.. "THe shipper gives us permission to leave the parcel outside" and they claim its in the mailbox.

Funny thing is, in the UK we don't have "mailboxes" so she said he probably put it through the letter box.. Which is about 8" wide.

Great.. So they have either lost my parcel, or left it on the door step and someone has nicked it..

What now? How do I notify OR of the loss? And more importantly, do I have to join the back of the queue again?

I've just checked the outer box and it does say DK2 on it. 😮

Just to give you an update, there is still no sign of it.. And today with the torrential rain if it IS hidden ouside somewhere its ruined anyway..

I didn't go on about this as to be honest, I havn't really been as excited about the DK2 as I was the 1.. I only really want to see "Titans Of Space" and in truth was happy to wait months until more demos/games had come along.. It was a bit of a surprise when I got a shipping note, but I can't say I was "excited"

My only concern is the far of ending up out of pocket with this.. And I am frustrated by UPSs total lack of respect to my and to the shipper (OR)... Its a disgrace that they would leave a parcel on the door step (Assuming thats what they did).

But my weekend couldn't get any worse really and I am blaming this on the lack of my DK2.. After finding it wasn't here on Friday I decided that I needed to kill and hour or so.. So I decided to take my new FPV RC plane that I had built out for another flight.

The first battery went well.. The 2nd even better, so I decided to break my distance limit.. Went out 1000m.. Turned.. VIdeo feed went.. Flicked in the "Return to home" feature (Which I had tested endlessly).. And never saw it again..

Spent all of yesterday walking around a 300,000m2 area looking for it, but there is no sign.. GUTTED.. Thats 3 months work and £300 down the drain.. And its all UPSs fault 🙂

I am joking obviously.. But I can't get it out of my head that IF it had turned up.. I would obviously have unpacked it to take a look.. And then I am certain to have had a go.. And I would never have gone on that flight.

Something things are just not ment to be... And I am now waiting on OR and UPS to tell me what they are doing... A replacement would be nice.. But based on how I am feeling right now, I wouldn't say no to a refund at this moment in time...

As was mentioned, just as many people would hate the requirement for signed delivery. Such as a person who could never be home during the random delivery time because they work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Not everyone can afford to take a full day off from work just to sign for a package, and not everyone distrusts their neighbors.

UPS is absolutely TERRIBLE where I live. Every single package that's been sent here has resulted in a failed delivery to someone with a brown door! None of my neighbours even have a brown door. If they mess up my OR delivery... :twisted: I will find them, and I will kill them.

Signed delivery means receipted delivery therefore if you cannot be home to sign that is ok because you just go to the depot after work or arrange someone else to go next day and pick it up... the benefit is the package is secure and there is no question of it being stolen or misplaced. Simple really and should be a basic requirement for anything of value for both the shipper and the receiver.

And what is up with the shipping insurance? In Germany all UPS (Even Basic) Pakets are covered with minimal 500 Euros. If lost or damaged.

You dont have this feature in the US ?
