UPS Have lost my DK2

Was surprised to get a shipping note yesturday (UK) and it was out for delivery today.

Got home to find no parcel... But then I went to the UPS site and it showed delivered at 11:54 to "Mailbox"

I rang them and thats all they can tell me.. "THe shipper gives us permission to leave the parcel outside" and they claim its in the mailbox.

Funny thing is, in the UK we don't have "mailboxes" so she said he probably put it through the letter box.. Which is about 8" wide.

Great.. So they have either lost my parcel, or left it on the door step and someone has nicked it..

What now? How do I notify OR of the loss? And more importantly, do I have to join the back of the queue again?

Sorry to hear that, not a good scenario and some couriers can be complete assholes.

This is why I'm so surprised OVR are not sending them with signature required, it makes no sense at all. The shipping costs were a fortune, the item cost is close to £300 - am sure a few extra pounds for a signature delivery would be worth it in the long run.

Hope you get it sorted.

And to Oculus - I'll back the guy up and say that "MAILBOX" makes no sense at all in the U.K. We do not have mailboxes (unless you are in apartments), most houses have a thin letter box and the courier is meant to knock on that fkin door not just dump it in a hedge or steal it and claim he left it in the "mailbox" - am getting angry FOR the OP just thinking about what utter ***** some couriers are.

I certainly didn't expect this... is it normal that they don't get a GPS (Germany here) :?:

I used to work for UPS and i was surprised when i'd talk with the drivers and find out that this was the case. They said that because you're usually assigned to a specific district you get to know most of the streets anyways so its not that big of an issue

So sorry to hear,

i hope it turns up or OVR can help. Surely though the courier can report exactly where they delivered to and on a side note i have had various packages listed as delivered only to of actually been signed by the driver and then redelivered.

Makes me glad our dk2 is going to a business address though.
Look, man. I only need to know one thing: where they are.

UPS had done a ninja 'first attempt' delivery without even leaving a delivery attempt notice, for another package, the day before the Oculus package was supposed to arrive.

I put an A4 with large bold letters "<- IN CASE OF PACKAGE DELIVERY, PUSH THE DOORBELL" with the arrow pointing towards the doorbell on the door.

Worked.

touch wood (I have my X55 flight stick comeing via UPS next week) I have never had anything valuable lost by any courier -
I guess it comes down to money, and this will probably go no where, but...

Can I just give a hearty reccomendation to DPD if you decide to change delivery guys in the UK.

You get a text the day before with a time within the hr, you can then change it to a different time or day if you want then.

on top of that you get the GPS locator of the DPD van, the number of the delivery they are on for the day, and the number you are, so you can really fine tune it if you need to slip off home. Its quite hypnotic watching the DPD van trekking over the county slowly getting closer.

I have had stuff from them a number of times, and would certainly choose a company using them, over any other company all other things being equal.
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

This is a nightmare situation and I really, really feel for you man ... the anxiety of knowing something you're so looking forward to has disappeared into the Ether is not good 😞

This highlights two things which need to be addressed by OVR for the future deliveries.

1. SIGNATURE is an absolute MUST HAVE ! There really is no excuse, in Australia OVR have chosen AustPost for delivery without Signature ... this IS crazy !!!! Signature Required costs an extra $2.95 for crying out loud

2. OVR must listen to their customers... UPS gets bad rep all over the place, so use a quality courier such as the one mentioned for the UK who allows the customer to track the van using GPS. How awesome is that !? 😄

OVR paid UPS who failed to deliver the goods and OVR will seek costs from them, therefore you should receive a replacement and I for one would wait an extra day or 2 if it allows you get your DK2 replaced right away without delay.

The other thing to do is make a police report (UPS will be required to supply an investigator the name of the delivery driver as he needs to be interviewed) and also speak to as many neighbors in the area cause you never know who might have seen something suspicious, it was either never delivered at all and/or was stolen by someone from your doorstep.

Good Luck to you mate, it will turn out good in the end ... have faith ! 8-)

I would call UPS back to make sure this doesn't happen again. Tell them that the driver marked "Mailbox", because if there are no mailboxes, then what did he do with it? Keep it for himself? You need to make it clear to UPS that he marked Mailbox and that there aren't any mailboxes in your entire neighborhood, so obviously there's a driver that either does not know what he is doing or is dishonest.

UPS uses the same drivers for the same routes, so chances are the same guy will be the one delivering your next DK2.

I find it amazing that UPS are handling high value parcels and yet dont get signatures when they deliver...

It's oculus that told them no signature required. It worries me because I live in a country where, if it's not signed for, they leave it on the doorstep.

It's the same in Australia ... it is much better to have a signature required for the small cost of $2.95 extra, that way if you are not home they take it back to the delivery centre and you pick it up there late in the day .... Win ! 8-)
