UPS Have lost my DK2

Was surprised to get a shipping note yesturday (UK) and it was out for delivery today.

Got home to find no parcel... But then I went to the UPS site and it showed delivered at 11:54 to "Mailbox"

I rang them and thats all they can tell me.. "THe shipper gives us permission to leave the parcel outside" and they claim its in the mailbox.

Funny thing is, in the UK we don't have "mailboxes" so she said he probably put it through the letter box.. Which is about 8" wide.

Great.. So they have either lost my parcel, or left it on the door step and someone has nicked it..

What now? How do I notify OR of the loss? And more importantly, do I have to join the back of the queue again?

Have you tried your nearest shop to shop location? Got to be worth a quick call in case they dropped it there.

95% of people probably wouldn't. Certainly nobody I know of.

I think the worst culprits are those little old ladies with walking sticks. I've caught them staring down my drive on a few occasions with their little guard dogs in tow.

Email scottdavis@ups.com .

That's the Executive's email address. It's their job to make it right.

Signed delivery means receipted delivery therefore if you cannot be home to sign that is ok because you just go to the depot after work or arrange someone else to go next day and pick it up..

You mean those depots that close to the public at the end of the business day, the same time most people get off work, and are located in the middle of nowhere to boot? Seems to be a lot of effort to go to, just on the off-chance your neighbors are thieves (if the delivery guy isn't trustworthy, requiring a signature isn't gonna help anything).

And what is up with the shipping insurance? In Germany all UPS (Even Basic) Pakets are covered with minimal 500 Euros. If lost or damaged.

You dont have this feature in the US ?

I'm sure all these packages are insured, it's the sender who has to initiate an investigation with UPS to get their insurance payment. Which is why you have to go to Oculus when a shipping problem occurs.

I once have had this happen. It still showed up the next day.

Though I've had plenty of annoying experiences with UPS in the past.

At one point a few years back I was waiting on a package that was important enough for me to stay home from work that day just to make sure I would be home for delivery.

At one point I watched a UPS truck drive right by my house and not even bother stopping. I then checked tracking and info to find out the driver claimed he tried to deliver but nobody was home for SIG.

What really happened was the UPS driver was running behind and just decided to not even bother stopping.

Had nearly the same Experiance:

Saw on the UPS Tracking Site that the DK2 was "taken over" by me (not possible - wasnt @ home - was working) at 11 AM !!!

Not so bad - though my neighbor had taken it.

i was so wrong...

ive got Home at 17:15 PM so 6 Hours later - to find this:

in This case i was lucky - but i hate UPS for doing this.

OVR needs to decide if they will argue with UPS over the cost of the item, or if they expect you to claim from UPS. This probably takes time.

I used my credit card to purchase mine because they will deal with UPS should my package get lost. I think when you use a credit card company they take the hassle away and deal with it for you. Whatever the outcome you still get your money back using a credit card.
