USB 3.0 Compatible Expansion Cards

Hi,

Like many people, the wait between the pre-order and actually receiving the headset gives me time to get my PC ready. I have USB 3.0 ports on my motherboard (ASUS P9X79) but they are not compatible (Asmedia). So I've been looking at getting a PCI Express card to get the required ports. As mentioned many times before in this forum, Inateck makes one that has been tested by Oculus (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FPIMJEW). The Oculus documentation about the USB requirements state that I will need three USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port toi plug in everything. I thought I had read way back that I was going to need 5 ports total, did I dream this? Anyways, here's the break down of the requirements:
1x 3.0 USB port for the headset
1x 3.0 USB port for the 3D Positional Tracker
1x 3.0 USB port for Oculus Touch (available at a later date)
1x 2.0 USB port for Xbox wireless controller

So my thinking is why not get a card that will give me all the ports necessary for the Rift? Inateck also makes one with 4 USB 3.0 ports (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B6ZCNGM), can I assume this will do the job? Oculus says that I need a card with a Fresco Logic FL1100EX chipset, I believe it has such chipset but it's for all four ports (plus internal ones) rather than the two (plus internal ones again) with the Oculus tested card, now does that make it incompatible? Same throughput divided amongst more ports... Inateck also makes a few cards with 5 ports...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Nic

Just an update, got a brand new rift (oculus swapped it out) as they said that it was the HMD, it's not, still not working. Z170-A board seems to have a compatibility issue, although it does not show up as problematic when doing the compatibility check.

Did you try disabling the front USB ports? The reason I asked is the first day I got the rift I couldent get mine to work. I came on here and read a bunch of potential fixes. I went back, installed the latest ASUS drivers for my USB controllers, disabled the front ports in the device manager, and its been flawless ever since. Also my headset wouldent work in the Asmedia USB ports, but its fine in the Intel ones. The sensors work on either.

There is a fundamental problem with this motherboard, I changed to a Maximus Ranger VIII and all issues resolved.

  I just got the 4 hub 3.0 Inateck PCI-E card.  I have a ASUS Sabertooth Z-170 S MoBo.  Hopefully I won't have any problems.

Hello there

I bought the Inateck 7 ports card (https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Superspeed-Ports-PCI-Expansion/dp/B00FPIMICA) and installed it yesterday. Actually, my DK2 was working fine on the mobo's ports but I just would like to get rid of the incompatibility warning.
However, even with that card, Oculus Home keep telling the sensor is plugged into an incompatible port. I tried several drivers (the one Win10 use by default, the latest from Fresco (v3.6.9.0a_1) and the one provided on the disc shipped with the card (v3.5.106.0). None of them makes Oculus Home happy, still got the annoying message. Is there something to do ? Reinstalling Home ? Using a specific driver/version ?

That is odd, I am running the same card with the latest Fresco drivers  and have never gotten that warning. I did however install the card and drivers before installing the Oculus software as I have only had it about a month now...

Us this tool.  There is a tweak for the Fresco drivers.  And it's a great tool.

The OculusCompatCheck only complains about my Etron controller, into which no Oculus device is plugged in... Strange. I hope I won't have to disable my 10 mobo-integrated USB ports just to see the warning go away, that would be really silly.

I'm now using a Vantec UGT-PC370A, which is a 2 port usb 3.1 card. No problems with rift sensors so far.
It's ASMedia ASM1142 based.

Well, I performed a complete reinstall of Home and the PCI-e card, no more warning. Sweet !
