USB Ports Explained

So we need

3x USB 3.0 ports
1x USB 2.0 port

I plan on using the Rift purely for sim racing. I'm assuming of those 4 ports, 1 is the Xbox Controller, 1 the headphones, 1 the Rift, and 1 the sensor? Any confirmation on that?

I have limited ports left, have a 4x USB 3.0 +2x USB 2.0 in the back, plus 6x USB 3.0 in the front and all but 2 of my 12 UBS ports are taken. If I only need the Rift and Sensor I'm all set, if I need more I'm in trouble, my motherboard can't taken more sata cables.

each USB port supports 4 devices via a hub, it might be possible they could all be plugged into one 3.0 port, I dont know how power distribution works when doing that and if a powered hub will power all devices. If the Rift doesnt like hubs you can plug all the other crap into a Hub like the controller/mouse/keyboard.

Out of interest what is so vital that's plugged in to the other ten USB ports that can't be removed at least temporarily?

You will need

2 * USB 3.0 (Headset & 3D Positional Tracker)
1 * USB 2.0 (For the XBOX wireless controller)

For the shipping kit!

Add one additional USB 3.0 for the "Oculus Touch" if you will go with that also!

I got

Backside:
1: Keyboard (Corsair K70 so x2)
2: Keyboard
3: Mouse
4: Headphones (Turtle Beach PX21 so uses both USB and headphone jack)
5: Pedals
6: USB 4 Port to front panel

Frontside
7: Shifter H Pattern
8: Shifter Sequential
9: Button Box (making selections for mappable buttons. For instance, making in car adjustments during a race. easier than finding a key on a keyboard.)
10: Steering Wheel
Open:

The two separate shifters are used because if you unplug one, you have to reconfigure controls every time you load the game, which with all the controls it takes a lot of time.

I'm fairly certain the controller is wired, not wireless. The wireless dongle for the XB1 controller is only supported under Windows 10. they'd need the wired version for compatibility with Win7 & Win8.

The info is from the Oculus link where you find USB info and CPU info and requirement explanation!
You Will also find information about CPU info/comparsion if your CPU fails the test, so no worries!

It's wireless according to that info 🙂

No it was confined quiet some time ago and on last nights AMA by Palmer, it is shipping with the controller and the wireless adapter in the box.
