This is getting ridiculous especially for those of us with slower DSL connections. A 10gb update ? it will take me all day to download that !!! How about patches of a similar nature instead

Took me a couple min. My question is what on earth takes up 10gb in this update.

Its just laziness

I recently picked up Doom from a retail store becouse my internet stinks and I didnt want to wait a day for it to download

Imagine my surprise when it only contained some codes and the disk had nothing but an installer on it

yep that's the new age of things there jumping the gun though the max speed I can get in my area is 10mbs and I know of areas around me that get only 256kbs max so they need to put the disks back in the cases

They should be able to do a vector patch (like Steam does).  Also, the updates screen should indicate the size of the patch required BEFORE you click on it , or provide a "Warning this update is 10gb in size.  Click to cancel) option before proceeding.

I'm surprised that they still have the staff to work on patches tbh. They've stopped paying their staff again apparently. 😮

You would have thought that they were doing okay for finances after the Amazon/Lumberyard deal, the Robinson The Journey deal which must have included a sizable moneyhat and the sales of The Climb.

More to the point, what does the update do?
Is there new maps etc?
I am waiting for it to download, but also downloading other games at the same time, so it will take hours.

This may be an impopular decision but I find it equally ridiculous that affordable high speed internet isn't available everywhere where electricity is supplied.

Yes, install disks should still be a thing, but more fitting to this century is the expectation that high speed internet is available wherever high spec gaming PCs exist.

(Yes, there may be exceptions but these should be rare)

If I buy a game in a box, it better have a leaflet, a massively thick manually in English and no other language, and a little set of stickers ; and the box must be nice quality.

Otherwise, digital download all the way.

As for the update, sounds like either a mistake or the entire game was revamped :open_mouth:
Because at that size, I'd expect a whole new mountain to climb - and furthermore where are the patch notes for things..oh wait they don't do that on Home.
