Finally getting hold of a CV1. Do i need to uninstall the oculus software from using the DK2 or will it detect the new hardware and just work?

While the god rays are there, and I notice them very much in let's say, the opening of "Henry".
It's simply a non-issue while playing a game (or at least a game that's any good) because it's really not that noticable.

Then again, God Rays and Screen door effect for me are similar to resolution constraints we had back in 1988 when I started gaming. It is what it is and a good game will make you forget it.

Sadly there isn't an easy solution to this problem - at least when using Fresnel lenses.  The plus side is all the advantages they offer over other solutions.

You mean over other similarly priced or cheaper solutions.
The lenses are pretty poor; they're free form /anti distortion is non existent.

ok. i have set it up. the god rays are definitely there. i can live with that. whats driving me mental is that everything is tilted to the left. I ran the imu tool and it said that it couldn'd find my rift. I also find it less comfortable to the dk2, tighter on my face. the lenses warp things slightly when i turn my head. assetto corsa looks gorgeous but with the other issues i am seriously considering refunding and going back to my dk2. the res is less of an issue than the comfort and the tilt. In a lot of ways it was a superior unit. Day one opinion before i have overcome the teething troubles is that they should have put better res screens in the dk2 and left the rest alone!

You definitely shouldn't be getting tilting issues @Bagnet.
As for the comfort, I have the same opinion (and probably the same head shape) as you. I think CV1 is more comfortable than DK2 if your head has a near average contour that more or less matches the facial interface. Unfortunately the CV1 foam is thinner and denser than the DK2 so feels pretty tough.
On the upside, I've more or less gotten completely used to it... as I have the fresnel effects. There's also quite an improvement in the optical sweet spot with practically no chromatic aberrations which at this point the fresnels are very good at.
If someone who had the tilt problem can assist with a solution, that would be great.

from my brief bit of googling this is far from an unusual issue. Some people can fix it and some can't. seems like you have to jump through hoops while support pretend they don't know whats happening before they send you a calibration tool that may or may not work that you are not allowed to share online for some reason. I'm not sure i have the fitness to jump through the hoops of irrelevant tests before they arrive at the only conclusion there is. Its not really acceptable on a brand new piece of hardware and the support process sounds like a joke. I am really starting to regret my purchase. If someone from support wants to send me this calibration tool without all the goosing about then i will give it a go. Otherwise its back to the shop with it i think!
