In this episode, I demonstrate how the Oculus Rift experience is when wearing prescription glasses. Not terrible, but not ideal either.

Thank you for this video, I do not know what my prescription is so.. I will have to try both ways when I get my rift.
when using the rift and wearing your glasses does it cut down any any immersion factor at all having to push the lenses way forward?
or is it just like a normal person with 20/20 using the A cups with the rift?

The further away from you eye the lens cups are, the smaller the FOV (correct me if I'm wrong), so my choices are:

1. Use cup set C without glasses.
2. Use cup set A with glasses, but having to put the lenses far enough from the glasses to avoid damage to the glasses and the lenses, and suffer some discomfort, because the glasses don't fit well. My older glasses fit better, but their prescription isn't entirely correct for my eyes anymore.

I experimented a bit with my current and older prescription glasses (-2,75 / -4,25) , but finally settled on not wearing any, so picked option 1. And it's very playable. The reduced FOV is a real shame, but can't really be helped. I estimate it's about 80 degrees: it's good, but immersion does suffer.

Looking into having my eyes lasered, at least now I have a good reason to. :ugeek:

That's the obvious choice, so I'd go for it. Unfortunately, I tried contacts, but I just couldn't get used to something touching my eyeballs.

It does cut down on the immersion a bit. I feel like the choice of whether to use the C cups or wear contacts is dependent of what type of game/demo I was doing. Things like Half Life 2 definitely need contacts for the best experience.

I enjoy your videos and I think I watched most of the vid's you've posted but maybe you should make a single thread to post them in. That way they are easier to find.

I feel that way too. I wasn't sure how to present them in a way that folks would be able to find them all. I was hoping...ehem... that a moderator would make a suggestion as to how to present these to the community without looking like a spam monster.

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
