Yes, that's been available for some time now actually. For those of you who don't know, the riftUP can be purchased as a stand-alone kit that can be added to a custom-built headset of your own design to create a full HD experience. In fact there are some familiar brand name companies out there that are already using this tech in their HMD devices.

The VR Claire utilizes a 3d printed case that is free to download and with it you can have a full HD HMD that is actually very impressive. When I say impressive I mean a 6.22 megapixel RGB LCD display! And they are also working on a low-persistence solution using backlighting but I personally think it works great in it's current state. In fact had a lot of positive comments at SVVR from people who tried it out there and some even claimed that it was the nicest display at the show. 😉

It seem they have a new HMD. Very Expensive!

Has anyone tried this?

I'm very curious about how it compares to the DK2. The price is pretty steep to grab one just to be disappointed, but if it is substantially better, it would be worth having some for our demos...

It seem they are not selling to the consumer level, other than that, there is not much info.

Now that looks like a VR helmet you'd wanna make love to. But what does "3840 x 1080 x 3 Premium IPS Dual Display" even mean?

yes expensive but what can you do with it?
only watching 3d movie ?
even expensive i have trouble not believing that there is not some technical flaw that limits it's use over classical VR solution, otherwise Google or fb would have buy them if only for the patent

1920x1080 per eye with a full color triplet->no pentile.

The price: Let this be an example for people ask for dual display setups. thats the premium you still have to pay for that.
