VR, Full Body movement and Seizures.

I don't know if any of you caught wind of what happened in VRchat and a player having a seizure. The video of the person having a seizure can be found HERE, together with Rogue Shadow giving his thoughts on the matter and after watching it, I did think about how we could prevent seizures, as well as what to do if players in VR realms witness such an event.

My question to you is however, How do you think developers and players alike could prevent or deal with matters like these?

My opinion is if they know they have seizures that the burden is on them to guide their health. There should be no watershed kowtow to keep these members of the herd healthy.

While that may be true and that some responsibility falls on the person as well, I do believe that they are allowed to play videogames just like the rest of us. It really does not take much effort for developers to reduce the chances of inducing seizures.

When you have a seizure or something else in Public there's plenty of people that will jump in to help when able, why should this be different in a VR online environment?

I have done some research into how to make games less traumatic on the brain here:
https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/61178/locomotion-for-fps-cod-type-games#latest

What it involves in reducing the fov to be inside a black border, not necessarily a fisheye circle.
So the entire display has this black border around it, reducing the size of the picture as a result.

I have shown in the link this is similar to research done by Microsoft.

Hmm, the question is if people who might go into some sort of mental trauma will agree to have a reduced screen size and a black border? I think not, I think given the choice to play safe or go whole hog they choose whole hog and go without the black border and reduced screen size.

Myself I use the Virtual Desktop fisheye standard to watch music videos on. I know the rift can display 60 fov in a perfect black border but this looks ugly to me because its flat. I know the best fov for music videos in the rift is 90, so I found a happy medium, I use 70 for most music videos, up to 80 for other music videos that are flat at 70, but no higher. This lets me see the black border and keep my mind more at ease as a result.

At 90 for a long time and it is too much without some black border.
