VR for current FPSs

Hello all, I'll start by saying I'm not a developer of any sort or know how to code, and I've never even played a VR game, but I had an idea for FPS usage I want to find out is currently in use or in development.

I have an Xbox One, so I'll use that as an example. I'd like to know if it's possible that with development Oculus could be connected to XBO in such a way that it can be used with current FPS titles; the regular XB controller is still used, but the Oculus takes over the look function of the right joystick. So basically you aim with where you look.

That's possible but it wouldn't be a 3D image. You would be looking at a flat magnified 1080p image through the HMD.

That's fine it doesn't have to be 3D. I was imagining pretty much what you described anyway. As long as the look function on the controller is transferred to the VR so you still get the 360 degree immersive effect. And yeah without 3D it won't be as immersive, but still pretty cool I think. Plus aiming would be way cooler (probably).
