Virtual Desktop will not be available on Oculus Home on launch day.

Guy Godin, creator of the amazing VR application, Virtual Desktop, has announced that anyone who wants to use the application with Rift or Vive will need to download it from Steam. At least for a little while.

Guy wrote on reddit:
"Virtual Desktop will only be available on Steam and not on Oculus Home
until later this year. You can still use it with your Rift though. I
will explain why once the NDA expires tomorrow."

Stay tuned. Meanwhile here is the incredible preview vid of what Virtual Desktop has to offer. As a DK2 user and soon to be Rift user, I personally can't recommend this application enough.

It's currently only available on Steam, but he's said you don't have to launch Steam in order to run the .EXE.

Another, but reasonable, delay...
Sorry for the late notice. The launch with be delayed for a couple days as I'm finalizing an agreement that will allow me to bundle Oculus Home keys with every purchase on Steam; this will allow you to launch Virtual Desktop from Home or from Steam. Thank you for your patience and support!
Virtual Desktop will be hopefully available March 31st.

And here's the explanation of why the delay...

So
you can't sell it on Home because it doesn't support Win7 but they will
allow you to redeem a code to download it on Home? Buying the steam
version will grant you a key to download the Home version?

Correct. Thanks for phrasing it better
