The virtuix omni has now included sitting, (personally, now if only we can get crouching. This thing would be amazing)

Nice opinion (because that's what it is) but he's sitting down:

Not my opinion, just a fact.

People consider sitting something that makes the knees bend somewhere close to the 90 degree range, here the knees bend only slightly. Even if you consider it sitting, it looks uncomfortable as hell.

Thank you for your uninformed opinions but I respectfully disagree with them.

I've been sitting for over 8 hours a day all my life. It's not an opinion, it's an obvious observation that the way it is shown would be uncomfortable past the 5 minute mark.

If you want to justify your omni purchase it is fine, but don't call people uninformed because they think omni has a faulty sitting function. It is still on its prototype days after all and it has room for improvement...

It looks uncomfortable to me too. I'm willing to give it a shot and be proven wrong, but I don't want an Omni for sitting- so it's not really a deal breaker for me.

I've watched a lot of Omni videos. It looks great for FPS. It adds immersion. In most of those games you only briefly sit to drive a vehicle. what they have seems good enough. None of this first gen stuff is going to be perfect full dive. I see a great future for Omni in Vrcades, that I think will pop up in weeks of CV1.

Regarding the sitting function, I think the Omni has hit the sweet spot when it comes to being compact, secure, easy to install, and affordable. It also doesn't tether you to the platform, so it's easier to turn and to jump. I doubt there's a great deal of difference in comfort level between either of them.

Looking ahead, it's possible that a different solution will be employed. While VR treadmills rightly ought to be supplied with a fixed support to encourage uptake (for reasons listed above), I can imagine many people will eventually install their own overhead suspension system that allows for even greater freedom. If this is the case, we might see users simply stepping off the Omni and sitting in their padded, contoured arm chairs for extended sat-down play. They would then get up and step back on the Omni for on-foot play. At least, I can see myself doing that!

Basically, I think Virtuix copied from them (because I don't remember hearing that Virtuix had crouching or Sitting until I saw this video "the real video" and not just the gif.)

One product exists and can be seen at numerous shows and the other has been coming out "soon" for ages so it's unfair to compare them.

Not sure what you mean. The virtualizer has been shown at quite a few shows by now. There is even a video with the PrioVR guys trying to use their tracking equipment on it (not quite successfully since their "walking" tracking doesn't seem to really understand the sliding movements used on an ODT 🙂

I have confidence in both, but given that Cyberith is EU based and Virtuix is US based, the shipping/import tax alone makes it more likely that i will get the Virtualizer (because i am getting one of them). Also, Tuncay (from Cyberith) is quite a character, i like just how enthusiastic he is, just watch the skyrim video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7n5kRRHDpw .

I think the sitting function on the Omni looks pretty good. Walking backwards seems somewhat more awkward though, but i am glad it is something they have been looking into (Jan previously said that it would be tricky on the Omni). Strafing also seems easier on the Virtualizer. I wish i could try them both before placing an order though, i a would like to compare the sloped vs flat surface.

The Virtualizer just looks awkard, and makes me think you will fuckup your knees and give your thighs and arse muscles a painful workout in the process. Plus, the "walking" in the Virtualizer is far from how any normal person would walk.

The Omni has a better walking gate, and looks like it won't work your thighs and arse to anywhere the degree the Virtualizer would. Though, Omni is rather expensive, and I think I would much rather have a cheaper version without the sensors and electronics (all which just simulate game pad button presses), so I can just use sensors such as STEM or PrioVR to track all that.
