Vive Forum

I know there is a Vive subreddit, but I remember looking a while ago for a Vive forum and didn't find much other than stagnant threads on the Steam forums.  Is there actually a Vive forum somewhere that's on par with this Oculus forum?

I ask because this forum seems to have become a general VR forum rather than Oculus specific.

If there really isn't a comparable forum out there for the Vive folks, then good on Oculus for tolerating (even encouraging) this place becoming a general VR forum for people to use.  As much as we flame back and forth about these two big companies, I've seen multiple examples where they're behaving better towards each other than we are.  I'm honestly a bit surprised that (if?) Vive doesn't have their own proprietary forums.  Why are you guys not giving them flak for it?

I had not.  However, the last post timestamps are not encouraging.  Only the top 3 posts were "yesterday" so it looks VERY inactive.  That sucks.

Yeah, this wasn't me speaking out against future Vive users being here.  I'm just genuinely surprised that Vive - with so much PR everywhere - doesn't have their own forum.  I didn't think about DK2 users starting here and staying because it's such a good source for info.  That makes sense and I'm slightly embarrassed I didn't think of it.
Still, interesting that Vive decided against official forums.

I went to war with someone on this forum a week and a half ago.  It wasn't because he was posting pro-Vive content, but because he was being a bit of a dick about how he posted it.  For 99% of the time this forum is a pretty awesome place and for the most part people from both "camps" are getting along.  I think if I was a mod, I'd have created a Vive specific sub-forum to try to head-off the conflicts we've seen.  I tend to go after people who are dicks to the other side, regardless of which side they're on.

I think there's a big difference between being a pro-Fanboy and an anti-Fanboy.  The first type is happy with and wants to defend their decision.  The anti-type is insecure about their purchase and has to dump on the other side either to re-affirm their choice or because they're naturally anti-social.  I don't think there's any place for the second group on any forum.

I think things got really bad about a week or two ago and they seem to be settling down now that we're seeing units ship.  I wonder if the Steam forums will pick up (and these forums lose some Vive users) once the units are in our homes and we're spending time playing games instead of ranting here 🙂

I like the vive, although I have preordere the CV1 and own DK1 and DK2. I think when it comes to the VR market the rule is "the more, the merrier".

What annoys me a little bit is the usual group of haters/whiners who tend to discuss things without any objectivity. But you have these people at the sidelines of any great project.

There will always be people around who insist that the cv1 has 80 degress of FOV or can´t do roomscale.

I will admit, that I snapped a few moments earlier and asked people to stop posting VIVE on these forums, because it's just very disheartening hearing all the bashing on oculus, on their own forums.

Especially when people start cancelling their oculus orders, to order a vive, and then try to get even more people to do so on the oculus side.

This just seems rude to me, and I cannot fathom why this is not actively being moderated, or indeed moved to a dedicated subforum altogether.

But if there's no dedicated Vive forum, I can understand a little now why people do it ...
Just try to keep it civil and stop making oculus look bad while doing it pretty please mmhkay 🙂

Having your own forum is a bad PR move. Vive is smarter than that.

Yes, instead have your customers post crap about the competitor on their own forums .
Makes perfect sense !

r/Vive is the place to be for Vive talk. Many of the Valve devs report in from time to time to discuss details and offer behind the scenes info. It's a nice community that's over 21,000 strong now.
Not a Rift fanboi. Not a Vive fanboi. I'm a VR fanboi. Get it straight.
