Vive this...Vive That....The painful wait for touch controllers....

Seems like every other day another fun game gets released for the vive because of it's controllers - are all the game producers holding back on releasing games until Oculus finally releases theirs?? Yes we have been seeing a few games here and there - just can't wait until we get some actual "Interactive" games to come our way. Yes i'm being pissy 🙂 I have got to the point of maybe playing my rift once a week because nothing really "Exciting" has come out that interests me.

I wouldn't say oculus have lost the VR war, but they certainly have lost a lot of respect from people who previously held them as a forward looking, consumer focused, open source friendly company.

Things like the pre order debacle, and yet another delay with touch not until October, leaves a lot of people feeling angry, disgruntled, and taken advantage of. It seems as if oculus are just a big group of people laughing at the consumers from behind the curtains and getting rich, while not giving a fuck about the scrubby little kid consumers who will get their toys when they feel like finally releasing it, and it makes no difference for them to speed up to meet demands, cause they already got that Facebook acquisition and are already rich, so basically, they don't care anymore.

Have fun waiting through the inevitable touch launch disaster while you get to play your shitty 60$ boring ass demos.

You seem really angry for no reason.... People could have cancelled their pre orders. It's not like someone held a gun to your head and said you have to buy a rift and wait.
On another note project cars, American truck simulator and asseto corsa will keep me plenty occupied until touch arrives.

I think waiting and releasing a polished product is better than than releasing an unfinished product early.
HTC basically released a prototype design because they couldn't finish the final design in time and now there are already rumors about a vive with a more polished design.
(probably not true though, because that would be a punch in the face for people who already bought the vive)

And if I compare the vive wand with the touch features I already know which product I will like more.

Right, so everyone loves to claim that the reason for the delay is that "Oculus are hard at work improving on it" well i call bullshit on that, because we've seen that countless devs already have it and it seems the basic design will not change mumch moving forward. Does anyone actually have any kind of solid proof that the delay for touch is actually because they truly are working on improvements? I haven't.

Another thing which makes it frustrating is people who are quick to defend Oculus for no apparent reason, and start a witch hunt against anyone who says anything negative. For example, two posts above, the person had to say, "you seem angry for no reason". I think it is pretty clear what the reasons are and quite honestly, if you think I'm naiive or somehow in a minority with this opinion, you are pretty clueless.

One could say that Oculus is doing too much refinement, being too concerned with imperfections. HTC decided to just throw it all out there and see what happens.
For a early tech company it's much better to be agile and have fast iteration cycles.

When Microsoft released Windows 95 it was full of bugs, but people loved it and Microsoft eventually became THE dominant tech giant. Nobody knows the names of the other OS's that were in the works by other companies, because they were too late to the party.
(and don't tell me "but you can update software", back in 1995 what you got was on floppy disks and was final)

No the vive is compared to the cv1 the better product. (I have both and using the vive only)
-the vive with a "polished" design + fallout 4 vr + doom4 vr + HL3 ? ... that will be great  !

the CV1 is just a copy of a very old valve demo ...

I would say that Oculus is taking the time to perfect things in the way that Microsoft did not. Gates just threw Win 95 out there the way HTC tossed the Vive to the public. That's why Vive users spent 3 months fighting to play Oculus Home games with "Revive."

I don't think you thought your analogy through all the way. Plus, there is a ton of quality assurance and control that comes with a true agile methodology. It's common for people to assume that "agile" means "building small stuff and toss it around." That's not Agile, that's RAD.

Although I would consider what the Vive did to be Prototyping.

If HTC improves the Vive to the point that it is a clear winner then that is great for everyone, because Oculus will be forced to step up their game. Those of us consumers who can spend extra $$$ on multiple HMD's and Software titles will yield the best benefits from this level of competition.

That's the nature of competition. HTC has demonstrated something that Oculus needs to catch up on. And once Oculus surpasses that, HTC needs to respond.
